I took the cover off and cleaned and lubed the wiffle tree today.  I was surprised at how fine threaded the rod was.  No wonder it takes SOOO many cranks to lift the roof.

Any idea why they didn't make the threads more coarse so it would lift quicker?  I don't think it would compromise the strength would it?

Coarser threads would make the top to go up faster but it would be much harder to crank up.

What Old Goat said, it would make it harder to crank up.:)
