Iced/Sweet Tea

A thread posted by CajunCamper and Coach mentioned tea parties; with summer approaching, it made me think about iced/sweet tea.  What brand of tea does everyone prefer for homemade, store-bought, or instant?  when I made the poll, I worded it wrong; I meant to ask if you made homemade cold tea and if so, please post was to what brand of tea you use.

My favorite brand is Luzianne Decaf.  I also sweenten with Splenda.  I love lemon in my iced tea, but only real lemon not juice or any other substitute.

I love making Sun Tea in the summer don't use sweetener 1n my tea...yuck

We are all about sun tea. Drink it by the gallon during the summer months. We use all different types of tea. For some reason the traditional gift for my daughter is tea. So we seem to have a never ending supply. I think she got 7 or 8 different collections of tea for Christmas!

Daughter and I sweeten with the artifical stuff. The husband prefers plain old sugar. My daughter spend a year in Florida a few years back and got hooked on southern sweet tea. She is forever complaining about the lack of "real" sweet tea in the PNW. bikerHen

Sun Tea, any brand, NEVER sweetened!

Chilled tea without sweetener when out at restaraunts, sometimes with lemon only.
Sun tea at home or camping, never sweetened.
Sometimes do Snapple though when in a hurry or want to mix a beverage.

Cheapest family sized tea bags I can find.
I also do instant (rarely)!

I've been adding a tad (20%) of cranberry juice or V8 fushion, to get my daily fruit or vegetable.
Normally it's unsweetened.

Before Milo's made the move to producing at the retail level, we made tea at home.  Red Diamond was preferred.  Real sugar of course and then place in refrigerator to cool.  Serve with lots of ice on a hot summer day.

Normally I just add the iced tea mix to a nalgene bottle at home. I'm lazy...

When I have the urge to make good sweet tea I do it right. Lipton family sized bags, probably 2 to 3 times the suggested amount. If you can see the spoon at the bottom of the pot its not dark enough, add more tea. Boil in a large pot (sun tea is good but I'm also impatient). While still hot add as much sugar as can be dissolved into the near boiling tea. Pour the tea into a pitcher and stick it in the freezer (impatient again).
When cold add fresh lemon juice. Then serve with lemon slices.

If you ever find yourself in Hammond, LA try the sweet tea at Catfish Charlie's. That's good tea!

We use Lipton Family tea bags.

boil water with your tea bags in the pot, turn off the burner and
steep for a few minutes...Mix in 1 cup of sugar and have your tea jug filled with ice.  Pour in tea water then run cold water over teabags into the tea jug continue to fill with water and chill in frige...

This is the way I used to fix it until diabetes set in now splenda replaces sugar..I can't tell the difference DH can though:tent:

Powdered instant Nestea it's easy to pack and easy to make up alot. Just have to remember to take it in at night, one morning we woke up to a squirrel making it's way into a container
