well i bought foam board adhesive for my roof repair...i used some to attach wooden shims to the 1x1 beams, it held great....while i was at it i thought i would try some of the foam board....i glued 2 pieces of foam together....and one foam to wood piece.....left them dry in the 90 f heat for 12 hrs and went to check them.....they both pulled off rather easy......whats up with that....i want something to stick to the outer skin when i glue it...Dont I?   now im leary of using it.....what should i use ? any one done this with good results?

update...talked to the  3M rep and she said to use product called insulation 78....found it at graingers...14.00 per 17 oz spray can...so i guess thats what im going to use and hope for the best...

it seems to be working real good.....Did a coat on ceiling and a coat on the foam baord...let set for one minute and its really tacky already when i put it up. Not messy, no harsh odor... Now I Just hope it will stick up there for ever . More pix to come.

I used some waterproof construction glue in a tube, applied with a caulking gun. However, I didn't attach foam, I attached 15/32" plywood to the skin. Hope the type of glue you are using works and holds forever!

I also used construction glue.  Found some stuff that was rated for use with styrofoam.  Glued my new OSB plywood to my aluminum outer and inner skin, and the original styrofoam to the outer aluminum skin, and to the new 1/8" thick "Abitibi" ceiling panels.  Then I air stapled and galvanized screwed it all back together.  The outer metal trim hid the staples and screws and the new ceiling trim hid the staples I used inside.

There is a foam to anything glue that is in a tube.  just ask at lowes, or home depot they should have it in stock.  just tell them exactly what you are using it for.

I know because I work on model railroads during the off season, and use 3 inch foam to 1 x 2 boards. and it holds really well.

PL400 is what I used.   Bought it at Home Deephole.

well im afraid my home depot people are rather uninformed or not intrested in helping you find the RIGHT product....The 3M i used seems to be doing good so far...Glad to hear the pl 400 worked....love that stuff!!!!
