We have none in actual Pasadena.... and the only time camping here is allowed is for new years in the rose bowl area.  Brookside Park and some other areas.

The closest camping is Angeles Crest.... there was a place in La Canada but I believe it

We are going to volunteer with decorating/making a float for the Rose Parade. I figured if I could find a campground then maybe I could see if there were more people interested in going also. I thought it would be something fun to do with the kids.

We are also probably going to campout over night for the Parade (which means I have to cancel out on the Canyon RV trip). I'm waiting on more info regarding that. I heard we have to get a permit or something for that but haven't found anything online that says we do. Just says we can't showup before noon the day before.

Camping from Dec. 28th - Jan. 2nd is available in Brookside Park which is next door to Rosemont Pavilion where the floats are being decorated and right across from the Rose Bowl..... its an awesome area to be in because everything is going on right there!!!http://www.tournamentofroses.com/events/floatdecorating.asp   Camping in Brookside is all through the Rose Bowl and its first come first serve at $100 per night and completely dry camping... no hookups.  There are bathrooms in the park though.  Showers (gym style) are available next door at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center for $2 per adult and $1 per child.... and you can swim while there too! :)

All other RV camping in the city.... from Dec. 31 - Jan. 1 is through Sharp Seating Company.... they are the seating company for the parade...... (626) 795-4171 http://www.sharpseating.com/ .  I believe its really pricey with them too,  for some reason $150 per night rings a bell.  A great place for RV's is in East Pasadena at the end of the route on Sierra Madre Blvd. and Walnut Street.... but thats all ran through them.

I also believe that you can park an RV on any street in town for Dec. 31 - Jan. 1......... but its best to call PPD first to find out (626) 744-4501.  Shayne and I will offer up our street! :D

Jennifer.... PM me if you need more rose bowl info and I'll get you all the info you wanna know!:)

There is nothing nice in terms of camping in Pasadena. There is two
'hike in' tent type of places in Altadena in the national forest.
One is Millard, the other is Gould Mesa.  Gould is a definite walk in place
out behind JPL.  Millard is on a road that the gate gets locked at 10 pm
and the parking lot is on one side of a creek and the campsite is on the other.
Nearest place to pull a trailer in and camp would be Monte Christo
or whatever in the Chilao area they chose to leave open for the winter.
These are up the Angeles Crest Hwy 20-30 miles out and up into the cold.
Azusa which Gracy has already pointed out.

There is a place in Arcadia that would be ideal but is open only to scout troops and organizations.   I don't know if waving the SCCampers banner or some organization going to decorate floats will open the door.
If I remember, right there are some drive-to level sites that ring
around a central stage/ food prep area.  The park is bordered
by the Angeles National Forest on one side and a residential area
on the other.

Pasadena overnight parking rules. At the fire station nearest Caltech, City Hall and who knows where else you can buy an overnight parking permit for a few bucks.  They don't try to enforce this on 12/31 but
they're pretty nasty any other time.  Pick a place in Altadena, and
it's free.
You didn't want to get any sleep on 12/31 did you?  I'm a mile south
of Colorado Blvd and I can hear the party at home... Gracy lives on the quieter end of the party, and closer to the post parade viewing.
I don't know what the plans are at home are yet, but I think we'll be
around 12/29-1/2.

Its funny, I work at the beginning of the parade and live at the end!   Living at the end of the route has its advantages and disadvantages....... we still have our streets packed in with cars for hours and traffic is a nightmare.  Its a given though.

I wish we had some camping options close by here.  Its really a shame because Shayne has been going up to Azusa the last few weekends and he said its a mess up there...... not sure who's responsible for maintaining the area but obviously its not being looked after the way it needs to be.

Carl-  Do you know anything about the campground in La Canada that's closed for renovation?  Is that the JPL location you were talking about?
