Quote from: Crowbar4We just got back from Thanksgiving in Big Bear.  WE went up on Wed night and it was snowing heavily.  I didn't put on my chains because they were clearing the roads.  Because of the heavy tourism as soon as 1 flake hits the ground they start plowing.  I would not worry too much about towing in the snow because of that.  Pluss there are 1000's of people there when it snows so if something did happen you would not be stranded.  Dave"Hardeepopper" and I (yes I was driving, and probly too fast) slid off the road in the snow late one nite and someone helped us within 5 min.  Just go and have fun!

Hahaaa you tell us to go and have a good time in the snow and not to worry about towing.........Then you end it with a sliding off the road story.......But not to worry because help will be close by....

We did end up spending the weekend at Big Bear, but at my aunt & uncle's house instead of camping.  We did drive through the campground yesterday and it was nice and snowy.

Bummer!  I was looking forward to your "after action report."

I'm sure you had fun - the conditions for any type of snow activities had to have been perfect.

I'm curious as to the state of the campground.  Did they plow and clear the sites of snow?  I'd hate to head up there and have to dig a spot out before I backed the beast in.

Sites were plowed- there was a chained-up skiploader clearing snow when we drove through.
