Last Monday (12/29), while traveling south on Hwy 17, came onto a large motor home that had been traveling north (towards Myrtle Beach, SC), along the side of the road, with three fire engines who had just put out an interior fire within the motor home. Looked like maybe the fire had started in the rear, where the generator is located.  Since it was on the "very Cool" side that day, I was thinking that they might have been operating the generator while traveling (really don't know). Anyway, at my passing glance, looked like the fire had spread through out the MH as even the windshield looked black with soot.

No EMS vehicles so I'm thinking everyone got out O.K. ~

I always feel so bad for the owners when I see something like that, especially with the larger mh's. There is always a possibility that they are full timers and that is their "home". Even if they are just vacationing it sure puts a damper on things.

I recently came up with the bright idea that I need to have a fire extinguisher in every vehicle we own.....if not for us, for someone else.  I've purchased a couple already and made sure the DW knows where they'll live.

The one thing I forget to do often is at least get the fire extinguishers recharged once a year.

Otherwise, they may not work.

boncrab the only time you recharge them is whe you use it or its not holding the charge or its been a long time you should check them every month make sure the gauge is in the green and not at the discharge side. i think on the 2lb and up it 5 years or 10 they have to be tested. :usflag:
