How reliable are these? What kind of a reputation do Dutchman's have as far as roof leaks, etc.? We're going to take a look at one tonight, and the asking price is only $1650. He says it's clean, no leaks. We've had a Viking, and then a p.o.s. Starcraft that leaked like a sieve and would like to avoid the same problems with the next model. From what I saw at NADA it's certainly a light weight model. Do these have real wheels or those rinky dink wheel barrow tires? Any information, praise, curses, and insight would be sincerely appreciated.

I'd pass on the Duck unless the seller can prove that the roof has been replaced.  Dutchmen told me that their 95 models were notorious for defective roofs and spent $millions replacing them.

Thanks for some good advice. It wasn't what he said it was.

My 94 1002XS leaked like crazy, right above the door. On top of lift cable problems, our roof was replaced twice and leaked one year later. Dutchmen refused to deal with me after the second roof. Finally put Eterna-Bond tape on the seams and haven't had a problem since.
The Duck is an eight foot model, very small and basic. Light to tow. We passed on that model and opted for the ten foot model for the extra space.
That unit was about $3,200 new if I remember right. $1650 sounds way too high for a 14 year old unit unless it's in pristine condition. Make sure you can set it up before you buy. Check canvas, lift system (squeaks, uneven roof raise, etc.) and the cushions/mattresses (made with cheap foam, might need replacing and that is expensive).
Good Luck
