Ol'Guy

I'm another new guy around here.  After about 35 years of towing hard sided trailers the wife and I decided to downsize to a pop up.  We still want a quality experience but without the size.

We will be picking up a new (2008) Jayco 1207 next Saturday from a dealer about 200 miles away.  We will have 4 of our grandkids with us, so we are going to give it a shake down that night at a campground near the dealer and drive home the next day.

After hanging around here the last few days, I have so many ideas from y'all about storage modifications, etc. (my main concern so far), I can't wait to get started.

Thanks Y'All !

Welcome to the site! Glad to have you. Four grandkids in one PUP huh? You are either a great grandpa or  :eyecrazy: ...well I am just going to assume you are just a great grandpa. Have fun.

Welcome to the forum!

Congrats on your purchase!  Your tow vehicle will be loaded down with all the stuff you will be stocking your PUP with - (bedding, cookware, dishes, water hose, sewer hose, etc.).  The grandkids will have a blast trying to help you!

Have fun!

We don't have to carry anything but sleeping bags and a few odds and ends (hoses, etc.).  We're just planing to sleep in it that first night and come home the next morning.  The reason the kids are going with us is because our daughter (a single mom) has to work this weekend and we would have the kids anyway.  Now they will be able to say they were the first to "camp" in grandpa's new camper and grandpa can check things out (and grandma can stand there slowly shaking her head at me).

Congrats on the PUP purchase.  I must say, with 4 grandkids along with you on your first night in it, it's bound to be an "experience"...  Y'all have fun!!!

Yee ha, We're official now!!!

We went to pick up our pop up and found out there had been a big storm the day before.  The dealer was without electricity, no electricity, no computer, no computer, no forms (warranty, insurance, title, finance, etc.).no forms somebody had to go home and get a typewriter (ask your folks, they know what they are).  Five hours later. we got'er done.

Now off to the campground, no electricity, no...........you get the picture.  We actually had a good time.  The power came back on that evening and was able to try everything out on the PUP.

I love my grandkids, but next time it's Grandma and I!

Oklahoma!! Great place to camp and a great place for storms. I have a son that was born in Oklahoma and I bought my first house out there. Can't wait to take the p/u out there and show my son his old birth place. Any nice suggestions for a great campground around Lawton (Ft. Sill) area?
