We have camped in several IN State Parks, and would like to know if anyone has any favorites (state or private) that has good lake fishing?
We've been to Turkey Run, Mississinewa, Potato Creek.  We hope to try Chain O Lakes and Pokagon this summer.  Where have all the nice private campgrounds gone, as they seem to have been made into permanant ones?  Suggestions please.  We prefer NW Indiana.

I just returned from Potato Creek and the crappie fishing is much improved from the last several years. They have also stocked rainbow trout in the lake but I didnt find any. Chain of Lakes is a nice park and the lakes there use to have good fishing but to really fish there you need a boat. There is boat rental and its reasonable. Nice clean campground and beach. I havent been there for several years. One of my favorite parks is Pokagon because the campgrounds are nice and the beach is fantastic. To fish there you need to leave the park. If you want to camp and walk to a fishing site try Racoon State Rec Area. Its my favorite camp/fishing place. Lots of shore fishing and boat rental. Nice beach, campsites and usually clean shower houses. Get busy on weekends. A Reservation is reccommend. Its 3 hrs from NW Ind. Also 3hrs south is Salamonie State Rec Area. Again nice park and GREAT crappie fishing. Not alot of shore fishing but you can rent a boat there also......Hope that helps...
