1 piece vs 2 piece doors

We made the mistake of poking around the local Craigslist site, even though we are happy with our current PUT, and stumbled upon what we think is a great buy.  It is a 2003 Rockwood, and from what I understand they didn't start putting 1 piece doors in Rockwoods until 2004.  Wondering if anybody out there has had experience with both 2 piece and 1 piece doors, and if you would comment on the differences.  I really like the idea of a 1 piece door, but do you have the same problems with aligning a door even if it is a 1 piece?  Does Fleetwood/Coleman have a better 1 piece door setup than Rockwood/Flagstaff?  Should I not even consider upgrading our PUT if the 'new' one won't have a 1 piece?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Used 2B PopUPTimes

I've had the pleasure of owning or demo-ing  a number of pups. Several had 1 pc doors while others had 2 pc doors and I fought them all in one form or another.  Personally I feel if you liked your camper with the 2 pc door before you saw the one on Craigslist -- keep it.

I've had both ... the previous PUP was a '96 Coleman/Fleetwood with the one piece door and now the present '99 Starcraft has the two piece. To me, this is a "six to one, half dozen to another" issue. What I liked better about the one piece was that it was a little wider door. As for the narrower two piece door, which is adequate, but it certainly is constricted for toting the inside/outside door in and out, so that led to the decision for that stove staying inside all the time and using another Coleman two burner stove for outside use.  Should also say I did'nt like the Coleman's "stepper door" and prefer the Starcraft door (which is the bottom half of that two piecer) and the slide out step.

The debate over the features of one brand vs another is endless. What makes the real difference to me is the layout, the size and options (COST a big factor, too ... you can learn to love something you got a real bargin on!). My present Starcraft is just the right size for what I do, has the right layout that I like along with scads of storage for all the junk I tote along; and is an easy pull down the road. If I had to replace the pup tomorrow I'd try and find as close to what I have now.

I don't think it really matters and it wouldn't be a thing that would "make or break" if I would buy one or not.

I have a 2004 Flagstaff that has the one piece door and we love it.  It stores up on the ceiling (snaps in) and it really easy to swing down and put in.  So long as you're level it fits in good, if you're off level it'll be harder.  But it's pretty easy to put in and can be done with one person easy enough.

Personally I like a one piece door but our trailer has a 2 piece.  Both do the same functions. Both require aligning.

I would say the biggest reason I like the one piece door is the position of the handle. We have to bend over a little to reach the handle on the door in our trailer. One piece door handles are general placed a little higher. More like a conventional door handle.
