Has anyone tried to use one of the 4 inch memory foam mattress toppers as a replacement mattress pad?  The mattress pads in my PUP become rather "dented" after a couple of nights and not very comfortable.  I am looking to replace them with something better.
Thanks.

We had the same mattress problem back when we owned an 01 Niagara. Our town has a mattress close by so I had them make make a replacement using a 4" thick foam that is similar to memory foam. It was fantastic and with a lifetime guarantee not to sag or dent. Well worth the extra money spent.
Our travel trailer came with a heated mattress in it which I am sure was stuffed with corn cobs and creek gravel. We only slept on it one night while bringing the trailer home from the dealer. Had a new one made using the same foam and since then we have been very happy and well rested campers...

We use  3" topper to enhance the cushions we already have. I have doubts a 4" alone would be comfortable.

I have a 1-1/2 inch memory foam topper on my PUP mattress and a Sunbeam Heated Mattress Pad over that, then the sheets, etc.  Very comfortable and when plugged in the heated mattress pad provides very cozy, comfortable sleeping.

We purchased a 2" memory foam topper and put it over our factory mattress...the difference was night and day. :sombraro:

I'm with ForestCreature, I don't think that the topper alone is going to be very comfortable. I would try putting the topper on the existing mattress and see how that works. If it's still not comfortable, then you may need to buy a new new mattress. Whether you have to buy a new mattress or not, the topper will not go to waste.

We did as others have said also.  Put a mattress topper on original bed and covered it with sheets and bedding.  Much better.

2" NovaFoam (memory foam) topper from Costco on top of our existing mattress for "our" bunk, and 1-1/2" version from Target on DD's bunk.  Super comfortable, and the roof closes fine with them in place.

The matresses on our 2005 Fleetwood Bayside are not worn out but we did feel they were a bit thin for comfort. We got 4 inch King size memory foam on sale from Overstock.com, cut it to size and put it on top of the original matress. Makes a world of difference. Much better for my back.
We also get a matress pad and a fitted sheet package for our PUP bed size off eBay. Bedding stays nicely in place. Nice quality and no more 'stealing the blankets' issues. LOL

Happy camping
P.S.: For memory foam, keep an eye on Overstock.com or Target if there is one close to where you live.

I bought mine from JC Penney last year- I had to get the 3" - but I really wanted the 5"-
I then went to Overstocked.com and bought the 3 sided mattress covers.
Each side cost me less a $100.00 per bed including the cover

If you've put the memory foam over your existing mattress - are you able to close the PUP without removing it?

We have a Jayco 1207 and wanted to add at least an inch to ours, but wasn't crazy about having to remove it everytime.

Thanks,

Hey there,

We have a '97 1207. Last week we purchased a 2" memory foam mattress topper from Wal-mart. I threw it in the camper and boy did it feel nice. AND the camper closed still with the mattress in place on top of the original. So no worries with the 2" topper. It fits fine and feels so good.

Thanks - we're off to WalMart.

I bought the 4" memory foam topper from Wal-Mart and hated it.  it's not one solid piece..they've glued two together.  It was about $115????

I've put it on a guest bed and ordered the Serta 4" from //www.overstock.com   think it was about $140 or $150

BIG difference.

I have an Aliner Classic and storage is very limited, so I ordered a 2" Serta memory foam and am hoping it will give enough softness to the dinette.

Old Starcraft

I've done what many others have and tried a 2" topper on the original mattress pad / cushion. I'm not a fan of the memory foam as I like a more firm mattress and didn't like sinking into the mattress. I do understand that if you buy a better more dens memory foam pad you might not have the sinking you would feel with something a bit cheaper, this might have been my problem. I swapped it an put it under the original cushion and preferred that as I weigh 285 lbs. This gave me just enough cushion to not sink into and feel the slide out board underneath.

Good luck with your quest !!!
