Well, it had to happen ...

For those of you who live in the L.A. area, you know how tense this time of year is when it comes to fires.  Lori & Dave, Dee, and others have dealt with them and it's not fun.  Looked it was going to be my turn this afternoon:

This was about 3.5 miles from my home, right next to the Morris Dam.  Fortunately the firefighters were on it immediately AND there's been no wind.  It's almost 10 p.m. right now, and if we don't have any wind tonight we'll be okay.

Let's hope that this was a one-time occurrance, and we've escaped any major problems this summer.

I lived in your neighborhood from '76-'83. In the early 80's there was a fire in that same spot when we went to bed.

The next morning the fire crossed over the mountain and burned hundreds of homes in and around Bradbury Estates, just above Monrovia.

There were no homes anywhere close to where you live, at that time. We lived right in the center of the golf course, just South of you.

let's all pray for no wind and it's out in the morning...we're here for you if you need us...

Its terrible in Pasadena!  I work in the competitive aquatics industry and we are completely smoked out so no water for us :(  I hope they get it contained soon... stay safe!!!

I thought of azusateach when I heard of the fire in the area.  Hope you and Jed are safe.  Be smart and be ready just in case.

The smoke came up over the hill to our area today.....We also had to go to LA and the smoke was pretty thick in areas.....We waved at you Laura as we passed through did you see us?  Stay safe and we'll be thinking of you....

Thanks for your support everyone.  All is well.  No wind to speak of last night, but the smoke's yucky.  I can only hope it dissapates soon so I can open the house up and air it out.  The fire's not close to being out but seems to be heading further into the wilderness -- a good thing for those of us along the foothills.  Let's hope this is it for us -- for a while.

Laura, you are in our thoughts and prayers and that this fire is contained soon.
