The Park Service is giving free entrance on three weekends this summer.

Great idea, but it only covers entrance into the park, not camping fees.  And most CG are probably well booked up by now.

It may or not be a great idea depending on your point of view.

Quite frankly I am surprised that they can even think about losing a half-million dollars a day by doing this.  From what I learned, our National Parks are in one heck of a mess with not having the money to do maintenance, repairs and funding for enough staff.

The concept may be nice and I think it is great for families but again, can they really afford it?

As for the park concessions, does the park really benefit that much from them.  I understand that they are privately contracted and not all the money is headed to the park.

Sorry if I sound like a grinsh but since I have seen so many articles about the disrepair that our national parks are in, I can't see them giving up this money.
