I saw some wasps going in the opening for our furnace. From there can they get inside or not? I can put plastic over the opening outside but don't want to force them inside.
Any advice?

Light the furnace and turn it on a high temp setting so it will run non-stop!

Both the exhaust port (the center opening) and the air intake port (the outer openings) go only into the burner box.  So no, they can't get inside your camper.  But you don't want them clogging up the intake/exhaust blower fan or those ducts because the furnace will not work right.

Go get 'em tiger!

I am glad they cannot get inside.
We have only had the camper for a little over a year. The prior owner never used the furnace nor have I. I will get the manual out and see if I can get it to light. If not I will let the wasps know to pack cause we are heading south on Sunday.

You might try "Smoking" them out, then leaving on vacation. A bunch of dead wasps in your furnace may cause problems.

When you say smoking them out you mean light the furnace correct?

You can buy cans of smoke from a feed store or some H/W stores.

Do a little research and be careful......

Once you get rid of them. Keep them out for good with a screen vent cover available at any camping supply store.  If they get in and build their nest your furnace will not work any more..

Thanks great idea. I had not thought to do that.
When we got the camper last year it looked like a condo complex in the vent for the fridge. Several years worth.
Guess I should think about screen there also.  I am going to take the furnace out and make sure it is clean once they are evicted. Over the years I have found I can take anything apart and put most things back together and some of the time they still work.
When I put it up last week they had built a nest inside the door. I got a zapped twice before I caught on but found out I can still move pretty quickly when the need arises.
