I am having a serious problem with "piss ants" as I call them or some people call them sugar ants in my popup. No food is in the camper nor does any food ever stay in the camper. The problem just started this year, which we have gotten alot of rain. What works to get rid of them and what works to keep them away?

I've heard Borax keeps them away.  Not sure but that is what I have heard.
Sometimes Ajax, Comet and those types keep them away too.
Just things that I have heard to try.

I had ants similar to yours in my bathroom (which we have since renovated) which was always quite damp (leaking tub, sink supply, and shower stall atop a concrete slab).  I used a product called "Drax Gel" (my Mother-In-Law bought it at the local pest control shop).  After about a week, the ants vanished.  I also heard that sprinkling the artificial sweetener aspartame (not sure if the brand name is Equal or Splenda) works too.  Good Luck!

A few times when camping ants started getting in,I sprayed some "OFF" insect repellant on the tires and jack foot(what ever it's called),the points of contact with ground.
We have had alot of rain this yea, good to see Lanier with some water in it.

Also an uncle (past away now) asked me one time when I was at his house,
"Do you know how to keep roaches from getting on your bed?" and I said no,(because I'v never had a roach problem). He show me how,you keep used motor oil in a can next to the bed and every few days take the paint brush and smear some on the bed post.
But I thought the best way is to keep a 1/2 way clean house and use bug spray when needed.
That's a true story.

never ever kill the ants you see.
those are the worker ants, they are collecting food to take back to the nest.

You need to bait them.
give them poisen and they will take it back to the nest and kill the nest.

if you only kill the workers the problem will not go away.

I picked up some stuff from Wal-Mart (maybe it was thel Dollar store?), called "Terro" ... it's some godawful sticky liquid (comes in a little 4oz plastic bottle) that you pour a couple, three drops onto a little cardboard disks and set them out and around and the little buggers really go for it. Next thing you know ... they are gone!

This reminds me of a funny thing that happened when we had an ant infestation. We did the spray routine: spray around the tires and the stabilizers and the front wheel. Only thing is, we forgot about the awning poles. (The vertical ones).

Feeling smug that I had dealt with the ants, I was sitting out under the awning, relaxing with a brew. I turned my head and saw a highway of ants climbing up and down into and out of my camper on one of the vertical awning poles!
