Our awning broke off!

We took our pup out this weekend to do a little camping with the kids and had a not so good trip.  Campsite was only about 20 minutes from home so we set up early in the am and then headed out for some family fun.  We came back to our site in time for some rain and storms...nothing to terribly bad but not fun for the kids in the camper!  Anyway, I was standing under the awning when everything came crashing down.  The awning, bag and all, came off of the Dreamcatcher knocking me in the head.  So, the question is....now what do I do?  How do I attach the bag again?  Can I attach the bag again?  How can I fix this broken mess as we LOVE our awning ansd screen room and use them EVERYTIME we camp - we have 4 very young kids and need that extra room for cooking and storage.  I tried to do a search but came back emptyhanded.  I am fairly handy and have a buddy who can fabricate or weld anything if we need to go that route.  Has this happened to anyone else?  TIA for your help fellow Pups!!

Depends what happened!
Did the awning rail come off the PU (some are glued some are screwed to the PU)

or did the bag come out of the rail or ...

The rope that runs through the channel and holds it on may be dry rotted.

When I bought my 99 Starcraft 3 years ago, the rope was about to go, so I replaced it. I wasnt too bad to replace. I think it takes a 1/4" nylon rope.

Now that I have a couple of things to check when I get back home I will try and determine exactly what happened.  Thanks for the responses!

It looks as if the bag came out of the channel.  SO, now what do I do?

I don't know what brand PUP you have, but if yours is like mine, my awning is secured in the mounting rail on the side of the roof with a short (1/2" or so) sheet metal screw at each end of the awning. That keeps it from sliding out of the rail. ;)

I hope this helps. I also hope your rail didn't get damaged in the mishap.

What's the condition of the rope? There is a long rope that runs the whole length of the bag. It needs to be fat enough to hold the bag in the channel. I just tied a knot in both ends of the rope to keep the bag from sliding out.
