The furnace tries to light but does not and just blows cold air. It did light one time and was the first time since using the camper after winter storage. A smell of dust was noticeable at first but then diminished as the furnace ran. Since then the blower stays on and the ignition will attempt to light but does not. What could be going on. If it matters this happened when working off of the battery and also with an electric hook-up. Oh, also, just to eliminate what might appear as obvious - yes there was plenty of propane and it was turned on.

Hopefully, it's just a low voltage problem. What make & model furnace?

The most common problem is a bad ground. You might try running a test wire from the ground terminal on your battery and secure the other end the the gas solenoid, inside the furnace.

The furnace is made up of a hundred different parts and pieces of sheet metal. There is 1 ground wire running to a screw on a piece of metal somewhere. If you have any loose screws or parts that aren't touching just right inside the furnace, that could create a ground disconnect (open circuit).

Worse case scenario, you may have a bad gas solenoid but you have a long way to go before you determine that.

If you contact the manufacturer, they will send you a troubleshooting guide. I hope that you know how to use a multi-meter......:D

There are many causes for this particular problem.... too many to list here.
(EX: Low voltage, wrong gas pressure, blower limit switch, restricted air flow, etc.)

I suspect that you have an Attwood furnace in your unit, since I have one in my 2001 Mesa.

But if you go and Google Attwood Furnace, there are numerous troubleshooting guides for your unit.

  Good luck.
