Tplife's Boombox is upgraded - but goodbye boombox!

The time came to replace the aging boombox, and walk-around at Glamis in February convinced us that the 3-piece was the sh*t, but why burn down my Optima Blue Marine AGM Battery with an inverter? A little Burning-Man 12V research made the solution clear. Last May we test-drove it at the La Jolla Indian Reservation Campground in San Diego County and it generated thumbs-up, a teenage dance party, and Jimi Hendrix and Willie Nelson never sounded so good! Total cost: Just under $ 300.00...:sombraro:

Nice... always looking for options.

Polk outdoor speakers - which model?

What's the head unit and enclosure?

What's powering it (the black box behind the table)?

Glamis, huh? One of these days....  Being up in San Hosay, I usually just go to Oceano.

Happy camping!

Jim, it's a Kenwood 442U Ipod-ready 200W unit enclosed in a JBL Seagim3 marine enclosure driving 15'@ of Monster Wire to Polk Atrium 45 waterproof outdoor speakers. It was built for under $300.00 and replaced a Sony Sport boombox with Radio Shack 12v-9v downconverter. There's no comparison as far as sound quality.  I power it with an Optima Blue-Top Group 24 Deep-Cycle Battery with a custom quick-disconnect setup with dual-triple Wegan cigarette-lighter plug outlet. The black box is just a luggage carrier to tote the battery.  Now I'm currently using a smaller case for the battery and a pelican-type box for the speakers. :sombraro:
Here's a link to the power setup:
