Hello;  I have 2 brand new fan/light combos for my bunk end in the pup,  there the good ones and most popular Commando brand or something like that.  The light and the high setting on the fans work BUT when I have them on "LOW speed" they shut off after about 1 minute,  BOTH of them do this,  very strange to me....... on "high speed" there fine !!!! anyone have this problem ??? its funny both are like this.  Unless there defective and both came off the assembly line together like this.  My converter is fine and 110 is working fine and battery is fine,  this is from my new 2010 Jayco.  Thanks for any help, J-Bird

It seems to shut down if the camper is very warm inside,  I tried them late last night and there fine when the temp. is cooler in the camper.... ?????? any help out there !!!!!! Thanks

J-bird, your last post confirmed what I thought your problem with the fans might be. I would not doubt that your fans have a thermal protecting link in them like many 120 volt fans and heaters do now days. When the temperature was hotter the fan did not move enough air through the fan to keep the temperature of the motor cool enough so it shut down until it cooled off. In the cooler temperature it does not get hot enough to shut down in the low speed. Most likely just the way it is made to work for your protection so it does not catch fire.

Thanks rccs for the help !!!!! Thats it I guess...... J-Bird

What good is a fan if it will not run when the camper is warm. That's like having elephant repellent that  only  works when there are no elephants around. I would think it would have to be very hot for thermal protection to kick in. Thermal protection would shut down the fan light unit completely if it activated. Maybe you should take them back. I have a 2007 Jayco 1008 with those fans/lights and never had a problem with them. Mark

I have to concur with Mike on this.  How hot was it in the camper when you were running the units?  I have never had a problem with mine, and I have run them when camper temps were well into the 90s.  I wonder if the .25" 12V power connector has some sort of temperature protection that is tripping.  Is the cord warm/hot to the touch on the fan?  How about the wires to the roof?

Thanks for your imput folks, I believe when its hot out like in the 90's you would run the fan on HIGH anyway, guys try to run yours on LOW in 90 degree temp. and see if it shuts off in a couple of minutes. I ran mine most of the day yesterday, it was in the 70's here and they ran fine on low, J-B ird

I have had the fan/light combos for years.  I have never had a problem running them on low when it is hot.  I would talk to the dealer about the problem and ask for replacements.:)

I stopped at my dealer ship today to replace the 2 fan/lights,  in the ADK, in New York it was very cold and the fans did not work right, I traded them in for 2 new ones. J-Bird
