We finally got the pup winterize and put into the garage... all stored away for the Michigan winters we have.. Now what can I do in the off season???

What do you all do when camping season is done and waiting for spring to get here?

:frosty: waiting for him to arrive

Brenda,

I have the same dilemma.  This is our first season with our pop up.  We are camping this weekend if the weather holds and plan to winterize when we get back.

Note: Proceed with caution.  Some of the below can bite into the camping budget...

1) Write reviews of the campground(s) you stayed at.
2) Sort, organize and post the pictures you took.
3) Plan next year's camping trips.
4) Go to Camping & RV shows.
5) Write reviews of the campground(s) you stayed at.
6) Try to predict when posts here will hit their lowest.
7) Try ice camping - grab some extra blankets, fill both propane bottles, and go camping in the snow.
8) Write reviews of the campground(s) you stayed at.
9) Think up neat stuff for your pop-up.
10) Think up neat mods for your pop-up.
11) Return to your other hobbies (the ones you abandon to go camping).
12) In case you missed it...write reviews of the campground(s) you stayed at!

Those are some great ideas.  I do have a bunch of pics that have to be organized.  I should get on it I guess.

When you go ice camping, what about water for dishes and showers?  Always wondered about that.

I'm no expert, but I suspect real ice campers are not out for long enough at one time that they can't do that stuff when they get home. :eyecrazy:

Burrr....

What's winter? We camp in the desert until Spring arrives, or in the foothills...

Well, our fall fishing is now underway and will go into November, if we can keep the real cold fronts further up north.

Winter fishing in Minnesota:

Yes, for you Dixie-ites, they drive on the lake, put shacks (or even tents) on the lake, cut holes in the lake, and camp on the lake in order to fish.  Many shacks, called "fish houses" or ice houses," are heated.  On some larger lakes, entire villages spring up, with plowed and marked roads, neighborhoods, etc.  They look like extremely impoverished slum housing, but these people actually choose to do this.

Around this time of year, we start to see advertizing for "get your fish-house early" and "we have fish trailers" which means a fish shack with retractible wheels so it can sit directly on the ice (there's one in the photo).

I've never heard of anyone using a pop-up, but I'm sure it's been done.

I'm just not that hardy.

P.S. - Every spring, some sensibility-challenged individual pushes his luck with the ice and his pickup ends up in the lake.  Sometimes it's fatal.

That would be about my luck!  Instead of going down with the ship, I'd go down with the pick'em-up!

I live in Central Arizona, winterize is adding another blanket.

Hiking until there is snow on the ground, then Cross Country Skiing until April fills in the gap for us! The bad weather weekends are filled with family visits.

Our camping season is really just now getting started and will run through late June.

Well I just keep camping.  Last trip I blew out the water lines in case we froze.  This weekend I will use the water system for the last time before spring.  I will finish winterizing the PU this weekend, but I will still go camping.  I just don't use the water system, except for the sink drain.:)

I'm with TLHDOC, although we've never winter camped with her.  Would like to sometime.

We've got a Pittsburgh trip planned this weekend, 4 night in NYC over Thanksgiving, 5 or 6 Pittsburgh again over New Years and Savannah, GA for a week in Feb.  Only takes a few minutes to winterize/de-winterize.  We don't give that camper much time to rest.  I should mention we do this in a TT, not a PUP.
