Camping Coxes

We have taken pictures all along the way.  Yesterday Paul and his bro put the front seal back in place (Thanks Wayne -- the 3M adhesive "snot" you recommended in another post worked fantastic!!!).  They also cut out a spot in the box and installed the water heater, hooked all the lines up, and installed the original water heater door.

The only thing left to do is install some anchor points so we have an attachment point for bungee cords to hold down the aquatainers and anything else we decide to put on the unboxed side, and then to put some caulking in a few spots so it's all sealed up and water tight.  This should take less than an hour, but my hubby tends to be a perfectionist, so it will take longer.  Would have been done today, but we were at a water polo tourney all day.

So since I don't know how to post pictures and I'm not good with technology, can I send you the pictures and you can post them for me?  I want to wait until he gets the anchor loop things installed so it's all complete before I start bragging.  It looks frikken' awesome.  The diamond plate is definitely an improvement.  I told Paul and his bro that Todd and Kevin would be proud of the diamond plate work. :p

Now the bad news -- two weeks ago, in the midst of all this renovation, our Suburban, the old work horse, blew the head gasket.  We are looking into putting a hitch on David's truck and installing the brake controller so we can use that and he can use my car, so at least we can camp while Paul figures out if he really wants to tear into the 'Burban or if it's time to look into a newer TV.  Our first trip is going to be very local (because we're out of practice and need to be near civilization!) and we're probably going to take my little nieces because they've been wanting to camp with us for a long time, but they were always too little to take them.

Trina,

     (I just Love that Name!)

You know the Halloween rally just so happens to have an empty spot!!!!
Your name could be on it! What do you say? Come on and have some fun!
Don't think too long about this. Your nieces would love you so so much!

Okay.  I finally uploaded my photos, and even got it on Webshots.  Now someone needs to tell me how to put the link in a post.  Help!

Trina,

Sounds like you've made some good progress.

To post pictures within a thread, you just need to copy the text from webshots where is says "post in a forum".  Highlight the text, right click, select COPY.  Come back to this forum, right click in your response text box and PASTE the text into your reply.  You will need to repeat this for each picture you want to add.

Below is a screenshot of a the webshots screen, showing an example of the text that you need to copy and paste.

Hope that helps.

It is definately time to upgrade the ol' Burb..............

There are some screaming deals out there right now on "newisher" trucks.

This is the before and after. For the rest, look up the album on Webshots under the name TcoxCSR.

Trina tell Paul that he did a great job. What are you planning on using the open deck area in front for

Looks very nice and professional

Brad -- I was waiting for Paul to finish the open area before I posted pictures, but now he's in FL for work, so I went ahead and posted them anyway. He has some chrome loops for bungee cords to attach to that will be installed on the bottom so we can tie down our gray water totes. The rest of the area we're going to use a milk crate to put our other important stuff in and then strap it down. We actually have one we would use for our level, hitch grease, etc., and that will fit on there nicely. We used to keep the totes and the crate in the front trunk, so same stuff we had there before, just a different configuration. The chrome box is much smaller than the storage trunk, so it's just some stuff will be stored outside the box now. I'd like to use a crate for firewood too because I don't like it being inside the trailer because of the debris and bugs, plus the weight will balance any weight of the water heater on the opposite side.

Wayne -- I joked with Paul's brother that I could farm him out to do these repairs for our camping group because he got laid off from his job three weeks ago. He's a handy guy and helped Paul do this. He's the one who came up with the "hair-brained scheme" to do this and talked me into it.

Next question -- I couldn't get the pics to enlarge in my post. I grabbed the arrows to stretch it, but it wouldn't get bigger. Any ideas?

I just clicked on the pic and it took me to your photo album.

Webshots has a lousy pic hosting set-up IMO......I use //www.photobucket.com
to host mine.
