 Have noticed several of our members indicate they are retired military (we are rtd Navy). I m wondering how many of you have stayed at the RV camping facilities on the various bases and what your assesment is of those facilities. Pass it on, please.

 Specifically, as I am planning a trip to San Antonio, am wondering if any of you have knowledge of the camping facilities at any of the following:

     * Fort Sam Houston

     * Brooks AFB

     * Kelly AFB

     * Lackland AFB

 I have not stayed at the campground at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station but have driven through it and talked with the recreation office on a recent trip. The RV camping area is right on the beach (i.e., on the sand), no trees, etc., and exposed to wind off the Gulf. Several of the sites are W/E/S but most only W/E. No restrooms/showers at the campground.   The lady at the Rec. Office indicated some campers go to the base gym to shower, etc.

 BTW:  Campgrounds on military bases are open only to Active, Reserve and Retired military, maybe civilian employees of the particular bases, but not to the general public.

 FYI - In case you haven t found it, here is the link which gives info on all military campgrounds (all services) nationwide: http://www.armymwr.com/portal/travel/paths/
