I put this topic up to try and move some existing posts to go here where it would be more appropriate.

Watched this video the other day. I think it did a good job demonstrating a big issue with towing a trailer with an ev. Most charging stalls are not pull through and are not setup well to pull up and charge while keeping the trailer hitched. With Dino Juice it only takes minutes to refuel so blocking a pump is not a big issue compared to blocking a charging stall for 30 or 40 minutes.

Model Y Guy

I found this insightful:

I'm not sure I would try to tow something that big with my model y. I've seen other videos where someone was towing a much smaller trailer.

Watching that video now, looks like he is getting less than a third of his range.

Here is someone towing a 6000lb airstream with a model 3. I never would have imagined.

This may turn out to be a good section as they plan to ban new gas vehicle sales in California by 2035. It may be time to start paying attention and see who ends up making the best tow vehicle.

I saw that. I also saw something about Washington and Massachusetts having some kind of trigger law on the books in case this happened to set those states on the same path. I have to wonder if the grid will be able to handle all these EVs. I love EVs but I think mandating them is foolish.

I saw that too and I think it's stupid, sorry I just don't think there is anything else that fits better than stupid. I could be way off the mark but what I'm seeing is all this renewable energy while it's supposed to be great for the environment isn't and it's certainly not helped the economy. I hear celebrations that gas prices have come down and all it's done is come down from the high, it's still way up, I guess we aren't suppose to remember back that far. Who said high high gas prices might just be an incentive to buy an electric car, completely ridiculous! Do you know how much gas you can buy for the difference between a kia and a tesla, even at $5/gallon. I think these mandates/laws or whatever, are so far removed from reality when a car for regular people can cost almost as much as a house. I have nothing against electric cars, I've driven a Tesla and an F150 Lightning and they are fun to drive so if you can afford it and you want it more power to you. The average Joe can't run out and replace the gas powered family car, truck or SUV for the price EVs sell for.

Sorry for the rant I'm just so tired of feeling like we are under the thumb of millionaire politicians that don't have to worry about the same things we have to worry about and come up with stupid laws and policies.

I share your frustration, I too think it's dumb. I like my electric car, but I worry that forcing everyone into EVs will drive up the price of electricity. It used to be much cheaper to charge. California in particular sends a mix message. They set a deadline for no more gas vehicle sales and at the same time they ask people not to charge their cars because of electricity shortage and high demand. It's insane.

Tinkerwell, be calm, it's still a long way away from 2035. If they were to stop gas sales today it would be a huge problem. If by the time 2035 is approaching and things have not dramatically improved I'm sure people will be up in arms. Today California's grid can't handle all the EVs, it can't even handle all the air conditioners. Who knows what 10 years will bring.

I think California will have to do much better than they are now, Currently wind and solar can't deliver enough power to the grid. I read they were planning to keep their last nuclear power plant open. I'm doubt that will be enough as well.
