 OK...

This is my first post on the " new"  board...And generally speaking, I m not thrilled...However, I do have a year or so to get used to it...Funny, I didn t have to get used to the " old"  board...

But on to the main topic...

I tore up my camper on my last trip and asked my dealer about a lift kit...She said, we can just flip the axel and give you another 3-4"  of clearance. She even said it won t affect the warranty, but since it s up next month that s really not an issue.

My question is: Has anyone done this, and if you have...how does it affect the towing characteristics of the camper...

My Service Manager told me it doesn t affect the towing characteristics at all, and they ve done this many times...

 Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

 BTW...I have a 2002 Coleman Westlake behind a 2000 Tahoe Z71...

raven339I would guess that it could impact your towability if the camper leans forward to the hitch when hooked up to your TV.  As long as you compensate with a hitch receiver to keep your PU level, my guess is that it should not have an impact on towing.    Let us know how it turns out if you decide to add the kit.

 raven339Hi Raven339-

I ve added the lift kit to our pop-up. It s a fairly easy bolt-on mod. No changes in towing, but a few other things will be changed such as draw-bar height, visibility of objects behind the trailer in the windshield mirror, stabilizer to ground distance, and that first step getting into the trailer.

Best part is the added ground clearance for towing, higher gray water drain/tank difference, and being able to access the underside of the trailer for service and water tank drainage.  Ping me on the back channel if you have any questions-- I d be happy to help.

 raven339Hi Guys!!!

Thanks for your input and links...I ve decided to go ahead and let the dealer " flip the axle" . They say they do it all the time, and from what I ve learned, it s quite a common practice, and the expense is minimal.

I know I ll have to use a different drawbar, the dealer says he ll take care of that. I ll also have to carry some 2X6 s for the stabilizer s and the front wheel jack.

 Thanks again...
