Go back about a year.. (if you have not been here that long, just follow into the time line..)  A time when we were wondering if we would be able to get to Tenn. for the rally because my 4Runner had a burnt valve..  (Yea, remember that??) Well I thought we had got lucky, some time last Feb. I found a good running part s truck for about $500. Well I pulled the motor with a few friends (bad idea) and droped it in.. (along with a good $1200 in parts while I was there..) Anyway, you all watched and got hopefull untill we discoverd some idiot (no, not me) had droped a bolt into the motor.. Well, that bent a valve.. So being way over budget as it was, I had to shell out $300 for gaskets and I found a shop that would re-build the heads for cheap ($150).  Well about 3k and before summer those heads  were now junk.. the shop had messed up the valve job. So she sat, and sat.. Not having the extra money to fix it, I got to pay $344 a month for a pretty lawn decoration!  Well fast track to Feb 2003.. The truck has only 5800k more miles on it, and just this Monday I spent 14 hours replacing the heads.  The loan is paid, title in hand and I now have my pretty truck back... I have been so humbled having to drive my wifes old Sable (wrecked that one) and my 87 T-bird with the right side flatened out.. It feels so nice to slip into some nice leather seats and drive a truck again.. [:D]

Long story, but I thought I would let you all in on the final saga that all started just 1 year ago....

For those who want to see.... http://www.yankeetoys.org/lee/4runner_main.html  Be sure to go to the page listed " motor job"  and you will see the amount of work I put into it last year.... (I didn t bother to take photos this time..) [&:]

 Thank you and good night...

Firefyter-EmtWell, it may be a year late but you can always show off at this years rally[:D]

ThunderRock

Firefyter-EmtYeah Lee, it took you long enough!!!! [;)][;)][;)][;)] (couldn t resist)
Best of luck w/the " new"  truck.....

Firefyter-Emt

Firefyter-EmtTell me about it.. No, this will again go to tow rig duty.. Not the fastest one around, but keep those hubs unlocked and slip her into Lo range, and see how nice backing a pop-up into a spot with creeper gears is..

just wait untill I put the ARB Safari Snorkle on.... [;)]

 Firefyter-EmtEXCUSE ME???!!!   [>:]
" I have been so humbled having to drive my wifes old Sable (wrecked that one) "
Humbled?  I loved that car!  And here you go and start a new job and run it into the back of some bikes on a mini-van.  " bikes-blocking-taillights"   MY BUTT!  You had it out for my car the whole time. [:@] Poor little Sable [:o].
boy, that fish tank of yours looks like it needs some cleaning, maybe I ll pour some clorex into it [;)]

Gamecock Camper

Firefyter-EmtOh the pain... you could have been driving a Yugo or moped!!!   I do know whatcha mean about being glad to drive a truck again.  I don t know how I d survive without the Suburban.

DiW

Firefyter-EmtYour jobs remind me so much of my husband s car/house/yard projects. I swear each one is just an excuse to buy another tool. Don t see how any of these projects SAVES us any money [;)]. I think we d be better off having some nice young stud come do the work and then we d have more time to camp [:D]. Not sure why my DH won t go for it.

Quotehaving some nice young stud

The above might be the reason.

Firefyter-EmtOh my gosh, don t even get me started about my lack of " automatic car starter"  that I waited for for YEARS.  I finally get it- and it s only in use for one season before you kill my car [:o]  And now I have three babies - one on the way- and have to drive DS to school AND pick him up, but before I can I have to WALK out there, up the drive, and start it MANUALLY!  [:(] Somebody call George Jones, we need to write a counrty song about this! [;)]

You know I love you babe! And at least I have a 4-wheel drive van now, so it s all good! [:D]

bikolee

Firefyter-EmtWow Lee! I don t know for sure, but I think Andrea has a good point.  Maybe if you didn t put so much in extras into your 4 Runner you might have a chance to redeem yourself.

Hey, do you guys have the ability to play MP3 files?  I thought I d send you a copy of " Family Tree" .

" we got the big belly momma, here we go again blues..."

Ab Diver

Firefyter-EmtGood for you, Lee. Now give that puppy a real test and drag your camper all the way over to a NNC rally. [;)]

I ll stick right by you on the Sable-fable, dude. Real men don t drive nuttin  that sounds like a fur coat. [;)]

We had the Sable s sister ship (an  86 Tuarus, POS model), and if there was ever a bigger hunk of junk on the road than that particular car, I haven t seen it. (Ducking lug wrench thrown by wife. Yeah, it was her car...) Talk about a real " Friday"  car, we put more money into it replacing stuff than the car originally cost us. Traded it straight across to my brother for his Astro-- he wanted a car his kid couldn t get too far from home in. [:D]

Miller Tyme

Firefyter-EmtGotta love it when camping couples argue via message board![:D]
Know what you mean about Fords. I m ready to trash the F150. Had batteries drained in 6-8 hours. Darn near tore apart the electrical wiring-found a loose connection on the under hood fuse block. Meanwhile, already had replaced the starter, solenoid, tested the alt., and rotated through 5 batteries(including a deep-cycle marine) before I found the problem.
Maybe that s why I m in construction and not auto mechanics.[;)]

Firefyter-EmtSo Lee are we going to see the whole family at the 2003 Eastern Rally?  Did you pick a girls name yet?

Firefyter-Emt

Firefyter-EmtWell, baby s due in September.. so I doubt you will see the " whole " family, but we will be at the rally, We wouln t miss it! I have no problems towing the pop-up with the 4Runner, we did it all thru VA & Penn for a 3000 mile 2 week trip 2 years ago, she may be a little slow on the hills, but she ll tow...

As for a baby name, it looks like " Isabelle Rose Thomas"  [:)]

Gee.. I have to scan in the ultrasound and put it on my server for you all.. (can t really see anything and we still don t know for sure.. but we have a good 30 weeks left [:D]
