Guess what arrived in today s mail?

Yes, it s happened again! For the 6th straight year in a row, I have been selected to be a *Charter Member* in the Handyman Club of America!!!! Gee, who d of thunk it, a simple guy like me is allowed to associate with such a select few. I even get to keep the " free tools"  (a piece of brillo pad and a plastic drill gauge). Now let s see... the cover envelope instructs me to " Please keep what you learn here to yourself."

SAY WHAT????   Do they mean I shouldn t share advice and experience with others in the " select group" ? And I can t expect any help from the others if I need it?  No thanks, I wouldn t associate with a bunch like that if they paid me to. I ll stick with friendly, helpful folks... like those found here on PUT.

Oh, they did give me two good things, actually... their cover envelope will make great tinder for my next campfire, and the *Official Membership Card* they included will make a great glue-spreader. [;)]

BTW: Their sales pitch also says that if I don t reply within 14 days, club rules require that my name will be removed from their membership list. Well, I haven t ever replied back in all these years, you think they d take the hint, eh?[:D]

So, any other " charter members"  out there?

Ab DiverAnother sales ploy bites the dust.

Ab DiverOh Dave---I am so proud of you.  I know that you are one of the handiest folks in PUT.  That s why I personally nominated you to this select group.  You know what they say, " Those who can t do, nominate others who can."

BTW--I really shouldn t say that I am not handy.  At Lake Cachuma I was able to find a set of keys that had been missing for three days (without me knowing it).  Yeppers, cranked down the popup to get ready to leave and TADA, found the keys.  Maybe I should just make that a habit and store them up there on every trip.

Ab DiverAwwww, gee, Scott, you shouldn t have.

No, really, you shouldn t have. [;)]

That s Ok though, in return I ve nominated your name to the NNC Rules, Ethics, and Appointments Committee for your inspirational achievement in " sensing"  the missing keys without actually looking for them. Such amazing power of mind over matter must not go unnoticed, unnourished, and unexercised. Soo-ooooooo....

Yep, you guessed it... you re in charge of Lost and Found at Olema. I fully intend to lose my weekday work ethic, my sense of impending deadline, and any impetus to feel rushed or hurried. If you happen to find them, please hold on to them for me until we leave Sunday-- I ll need them first thing Monday morning for work. [;)]

Oh, that s ok-- no Thanks neccesary, Buddy! It s the least I could do.

Ab DiverWow.  A handyman award nominee and a PUT psychic award nominee all in the same place.  I shall bow to those mightier than I. (he he he)

Ab DiverDh got one of those which sent us on the floor, rolling.  The dear man rarely picks up a hammer, even his mother asks me rather him to fix whatever needs fixing around her house.

Not to say they weren t being very selective in their nominees, mind ya.[;)]

Turn Key

Ab DiverYou mean you got another one of those too?[:D]

CampinCrazy

Ab DiverI got one too (me being the female half who isn t even allowed to use a glue gun)!  Kinda makes me want to try that drill press thing in the garage....or maybe the air nailer....

Trlrboy

Ab DiverSo when I went waving this thing through the house, goin  " Hey honey, lookit dis"  and my DW started laughing... she wasn t just happy for me?
