My kidlets didn t realize that we would be trading in the pop-up for our recently acquired hybrid...my dd was in tears, she insisted the pop-up was bigger, warmer, had more features, everything.  It almost broke my heart!  I bet she will never forget our little pop-up, I know I won t.  She felt better knowing that I was sad to letting the pop-up go...I think she ll miss sharing the bunk-end with me...I ll miss that too.

It made her (and me) feel better knowing we will be doing as much camping as last year, not being cramped in the van getting there and being able to bring ice cream.  We also agreed that sometimes she can sleep with me and watch the morning birds just like last year.  I didn t expect the kids to be so sad, I m sure the first trip they will fall in love with the Bunk House but I don t think they will forget their first love, our pop up, I sure won t.

fivegonefishingTammy, enjoy them while they are young.  They will be grown-up and gone before you know it.  I know our kids are growing very fast and the time has really gone quickly from the time she was born until now.

Gamecock CamperCongrats on the bunkhouse Tammy!! My daughter was really upset when we got rid of the Pop-up and we had never even been camping in it. But she has grown accustom to the cabin quite nicely and tells me all the time " it isnt a pop-up but I have a lot more room!"

  DON T SAY SUCH LIES!!![/color]

I don t like thinking of my daughter getting all grown up and going out on her own and not joining me for lake trips. She swears right now that she will never leave me, but I remember telling my parents the same thing. *SIGH* I guess it will happen..someday..too soon...

birol

fivegonefishingTammy, how did your first trip with the Hybrid go ? You never told us .....

fivegonefishing

 fivegonefishingBirol, it was phenominal!

Our first trip was to Bronte with about 15 other families.  We were very comfortable in the new trailer and really enjoyed meeting a lot of great people.

We have had some minor problems but the dealer has been good at fixing things under warranty in a timely manner.

Shortly, we will be heading out for a two week trip and I can t wait!  I also can t wait until we get a house were we can store the trailer on our driveway!

 We have no regrets.

Campntime

fivegonefishingKids surprise you.  We traded a  79 Coleman Brandywine for a  93 Sencea way back when.  Our two boys had a fit and for awhile almost refused to try the new camper.  They were 12 and 8 at the time and the Brandywine was the only camper they had ever known.  They loved it and had a ton of memories already.

Note to Parents...if you have a similar situation let your kids know you plan to trade and why...don t surprise them...they get awfully wrapped up in the security of their  second home .  It all worked out of course, but they were sad for awhile.

Gone-Camping

fivegonefishingThe jury is still out on my nephews original opinion, I don t think he cares what we use, as long as we go camping! The niece was a different story, especially following the spring MAPCE meet at Newport News Park. While there I got a tap on the shoulder and tugging on my sleeping bag at 3am, DN needed to go potty and at age 9 I couldn t let her walk to the ladies room alone. Uggghhhh.... She didn t care much for my first suggestion that she just squat outside (Don t jump me here folk s, I was just buying time with her until I could get my eyes to focus, I knew she wasn t going for that one!!!).

To make matters worse, we didn t have a flashlight with us that weekend either, it was left home on my desk! AAArrrrrggggghhhh...... Needless to say, she was very happy to have on-board facilities, and to be honest, I m glad too.

 fivegonefishingTammy,

If it makes you feel any better, my 2 y/o son cries everytime we leave a campground and again when we return our pop up to storage after a trip!  He LOVES his pop up!!  I can t even imagine the scene he d make if we were to ever trade it in on something else! [:o]

Acts 2:38 girl

fivegonefishingKids are funny that way!  I guess we just assume because we are all discussing something together that they understand every aspect!  I know our kids like to know all the details!  For months now we ve been talking about the septic guys putting in a new system and how the back yard would look different, be dug up etc, but two days ago, when the backhoe gug up a hole 1/2 the size of our house - they were so mad and upset!  The men had to take down two small trees they were not planning on, so that didn t help!  [:)]  Kids like to be involved in everything!
