whippetwrunWe always have to dig out a path for the dogs, too.  If we don t she ll go on the deck[: (]

We got about 21"  and still haven t gotten plowed.  My son was supposed to go to an  appointment today and they said their neighborhood had been plowed but ours still has not.  I thought maybe I should have tried going but since then two vehicles have gotten stuck near my house.  I m sure DH will go back to work tomorrow which means they will plow sometime during the day while he is gone, plowing me in.   Cause with my bad back I won t be able to dig out. The kids are out again tomorrow, making it 4 days beyond the allowable limit!

We have a gas light in front of our house and from time to time we smell gas out there but when the gas co. comes out they can never find it.  So they said they could cap it closer to the street and would be out in 30 days from the beginning of January.  So about two weeks ago Miss Utility comes out and marks all the utility lines.  No one comes out, it snows and covers everything up.  Finally they come and move some snow but no evidence of digging.  Then Fri, the day before the " storm of the century"  was predicted, Miss Utility came and put flags in the ground, marking all the lines.  20"  of snow later you can t see them either.

whippetwrunWe have about 29"  of snow on the ground.  We left a table outside and the snow is even with it, most tables are about 29" .  Our German Shorthaired pointers are having a ball in it.  They make their own runs.

Today it got above freezing.  That means the snow will be developing a crust.  Depending on the thickness of the crust the dogs can fall through.  When that starts happening if the runs they have already packed down want support their weight we run the snow thrower for them.

We have had 3 snow days this year.  This part of New England have their winter vacation during President s day week so no school days were lost to the last blizzard.  Teh children also get a week of in spring.  Taking atheeir winter break, spring break and snow days into account it is going to be well after Father s day in June before they get out of school.

Snow removal was little slower than usual here, but then we don t often get storms of this magnitude, so I can t complain too much.  Years when I pay to have the snow thrower tuned up we usually don t get any snow, I skipped the tune up this year and look what happened.

I ran into a guy a couple of years ago at the local small engine repair shop.  He had bought a snow thrower there the year before.  We didn t get any snow that year and he figured it was on account of having purchased the snow thrower.  He was asking what kind of deal they could make him on another one.  Buying one the year before had worked so well at preventing snow he thought it would be worth the investment a second time.[:D]
