dee106I have been thinking about taking my little ones there.  What is the best kid-oriented campground to stay at near there?

dee106we stay at spring gulch , its a camping resort. it has a lot of stuff for kids. they are a bit more exspensive then the normal campground, but they give a lot too. they have wooded and open sites, www.springgulch.com

dee106We have stayed at White Oak CG.  It s a little crowded, or maybe it was just our site was small.  But we really liked it, the folks staying there were a very friendly group of people.  Mostly we were checking out the sites.

Take a try at the Corn Maze at Cherry Crest Farm.  We were in there for2 hrs and 10 minutes befroe figuring out how to get out.  I am stubborn about those things[;)].  DH was ready to give up.  The kids loved the maze and the farm. They kept bugging us to go back the rest of the trip.

Strasburg Railroad rides right by it and even has a top across the road from it.

dee106We re hoping to ride the " Thomas"  train sometime on Saturday, June 21st.  The regular Strasburg Railroad trip is fun, and I imagine my kids will LOVE Thomas!

Have fun!  There is so much to do in Strasburg.  Check out the Sight and Sound Theatre, too.  Quite a show!  www.bibleonstage.com

 dee106dee106,

Was there this past Friday and sure glad it was Friday and not saturday. They were telling us they sold over 30,000 tickets for the event. Was camping with Joe at Jelly stone resort in Quaryville PA. I love the trains of the past. Hope you had a good time there.

dee106We went to see Thomas three years ago and my boys loved it.  But someone warned us at a McDonalds along Route 83 to go get in line early.  Be prepared with sunblock and sunhats no matter what time of day you are waiting.  It s good for one parent to take the kiddos for a little walk now and then to break up the wait.

dee106We went to see Thomas 2 years ago and stayed at White Oak CG too.  Prettty bare bones, although bathhouse was in good shape.  No pool, which was hard for us because it was so hot!  Nice little gift shop too.  The playground is positioned between the roads for the enterance and the exit( ???)  Not exactly the safest place for kids.

Thomas was definately worth it!  Our kids were 6, 3, and 2 at the time and they ate lunch on the ground while we were waiting in line.  I think the line was 1/2 hour long?  I think the people who rode later in the day (after 2pm) had things quicker!  Most kids who were there all day had it by that time and were ready for naps so swarms of people were leaving by then and the lines were much shorter.  We were able to go on things that we were origionally going to skip since lines were so short!  Have fun - it s a really nice day out for the family!
