My husband and I just came home from Walmart and spend $225.00 on nothing but camper stuff for htis weekend.  Folks, this DOES NOT include our food!!!  WOW!!!  And the scary thing is, we had most of the MAJOR stuff (table, chairs, etc).  We still need a space heater.  Walmart AND Target were out of them!  Does Home Depot carry any?

Anyhow.....this is almost as bad as buying things for our fishing boat...ALMOST!

Thanks to some great folks and their suggestions, we got an electric skillet, bedding stuff (they have their blankets market down to $7.00 from $49.00), tupperwear, spice racks, mirror, first aid kit, bathroom " essentials" , a foldable shovel, a funnel (we got one, member recommendation, tho  I m not sure what we would use it for! LOL), tablecloth w/tiedowns, bedsheets w/tiedowns, Lights, etc etc etc.

The truly funny thing is, we don t even have our camper yet!!!! [:D]  We are picking it up tomorrow!!! whoohooo...wish us luck!!!

 JemJen24Hi Jennifer,

I can t recall a camping trip yet that Terry and I didn t " add"  to the stuff we feel we must have in our little popup! You ll discover the necessary items that are a " must"  very soon in your camping adventures.

Have a great time this weekend at Cedar Hill. Terry and I know that the " four"  of you will have a super time!

JemJen24Hey Jennifer, don t forget to save money for a Texas State Parks Conservation Passport if you don t already have one.  If I recall correctly its $5 per person per day for the entrance fee at Cedar Hill.  The passport is $50 for one year of free entrance fees at any Texas State Park.  If you go Friday and come home on Sunday, that would be $30 in gate fees just for Cedar Hill, so one more trip and you would have had the passport paid for.  The passport is good for a calendar year, so you would definitely get your money s worth out of it.

That s a good buy for your popup too, a necessity for anybody that camps frequently in Texas at the State parks.

JemJen24This will be my 8th summer of PU camping.  I spent over $100 on a BAL leveler, plastic patio mat and a water filter.  It never ends.  You will here about something to make life easier/better and want it.

JemJen24We ll all be your best friends, telling you all the new things you need to buy.    We ll be your worst enemies, telling you all the new things you need to buy.    hahaha, yup, the more you get, the more you will want to get.  It s soooo much fun tho, and especially comparing with all the rest of us how you used (or didn t use) the things we said you needed.

JemJen24Oh yeah Jen, and don t forget, all those really cool things you think you need, you can watch for them at garage sales.  Great buys to be had at some of them, people stop camping, or whatever, and they sell their stuff cheap.

JemJen24This week, we purchased a KarPak (soft side roof top waterproof carrier)  from Camping World so we can carry more items to/from our Endless Money Pit! Next week we ll get some new stuff to put in the new carrier. Will the Money Pit be satisfied with all its new stuff on the opening day of camping? Nah. [:o][;)][:(]

JemJen24(laughs)  You guys are crazy!  ha!!!!!!

NOOOO takky lights just yet.  Tho , my husband was ACTUALLY considering hanging our icicle lights (eyeroll) [: (]

I put a quick stop to that.  I am NOT that bad!!!  LOL

I d love to find some doggy lights and if I look hard enough, I m sure I will.  Well, today s the day!!!!  They called to confirm our appointment yesterday and I ve been up since 4:00 due to nerves.  I m soooo excited.

We re going out to Daingerfield State Park instead of Cedar Hill State Park.  They just have better weather there and it should be in the 60 s.  I have already called them to confirm this.

Thanks for the idea about the State Park passport too!  I inquired about it from the Daingerfield Park people and they sell them as well.  I didn t realize the entrance fee was calculated at a daily rate, I thought it was  a one time fee.  Sooo, thanks again for the idea!

I m sooooo glad I found this message board and I sure appreciate all your words of wisdom.  My husband is getting sick of me jabberin  on about everything I read.  I ve now hit information overload and have lost the ability to sleep.  [;)]

I also plan on taking our digital camera and will be posting pictures on our website.

Here s hopin  for decent weather.

I look forward to meeting you NTPUCA members soon!

 Jennifer :)

JemJen24The down side of all the buying of stuff is that stuff has weight.  Most people who get their rigs weighed (and far too few do get their rigs weighed) find out they weigh a lot more than they expected.  Some have found their trailers a quarter of a ton over the rated maximum!
