Ok folks...what in the world is an AAR and why do some of you put DH, DD, etc?  I know the end letter stands for husband, daughter, son, etc, but what does the first D stand for?  Hopefully not " Dumb" . ha!

Oh, and what exactly IS a BAL Leveler and do I need it right away?

Gatsmommy

JemJen24An AAR= Add a room, DH, DD, DS,DW  can mean dear, dumb, etc.....depending on the mood of the converstation.

Oh and a BAL leveler is a neat little gadget that you put around your tire and it levels your camper from side to side. No you don t need one right away, but you do need boards, or lynx levelers (basically plastic blocks) to back up on in case your site isn t level.  We don t have one yet, but it s on my wish list[:D]

JemJen24

JemJen24ohhhh, ok!  Thanks for explaining it!  Well, in that case....we got an AAR from the dealership for FREE with the purchase of our pop up ($350.00 value).  Do I need extra stakes or tie-downs for this or are they included?  Also, is it " doggy proof"  or is it best not to even CONSIDER leaving the dog or doggies in there?  They re not diggers or chewers, but I don t want to leave them in a room that may fall appart.

JemJen24First I want to say howdy and welcome to the board.  On the levelers...we use some long boards, and stack them as needed.  Granted you have to back the camper onto them, and pull off if you need another board, but after a while...you can pretty much judge how many you ll need when you look at your side to side level, so you only have to back onto them once.  As far as the " D" ...it stands for " Dear" , as in Dear Daughter, Dear Wife..etc.  Cept my wife would say it stands for " Dumba**"  when it comes to me..such as " Dumba**Husband" .  Hope that helps.

JemJen24It looks like you got your answers Jennifer.  There is a link to all the acronyms used on this site that I ll try to find, or maybe someone else will post it.  For example, there is TV (tow vehicle), PITA (Pain in the A@@), PU (Pop-up camper), LMAOROF (Laughing my A@@ off Rolling on the Floor), etc.....

JemJen24You are making feel like an oldbie. Thanks I am sure you will get all and more answers to your question here. So I will be very short. Bye[:)][:D]

Turn Key

JemJen24Welcome aboard JemJen24.  Glad your here and hope you enjoy being part of this group.  As you can see, we both live in the same area so have probably camped in some of the same places.

Don t worry about not understanding the language.  As you can see, it s not " secret" .  It s just a code that we use to make messages a bit shorter.  There are some others that have not been mentioned but I m sure you ll pick-up on them.  If not, just ask.  This bunch is friendly.  No " flaming"  or some of the stff you see on other sites.

Again, welcome aboard and have fun!

JemJen24Jen, the pack of 10 Lynx levelers is about $35 (though occasionally about $30).  The BAL leveler is about $80 (or thereabouts).

People RAVE about the Bals ( got one but have only had to use it once in flat Florida and a young fella " cranked"  it so I haven  t done it myself).

Do you have many uneven sites in your part of TX?  If not, you might want to hang in and go straight to BAL.

JemJen24Welcome to the site! The best place I have found to buy Lynx Levelers is Wallymart,  I believe I only paid $19.95 for a 10 pack. Not all of the stores have them. They are in the RV section back in automotive.

 JemJen24JemJen,
Thanks for asking the question!  I ve been trying to figure out the language ever since I started visiting popuptimes and after seeing the list above -- I got many of them right but some VERY wrong!!!
I am a " newbie"  as well but this board has been so very helpful.  It s also addictive --  but I can think of worse things to be addicted to!

JemJen24One of the things I like best about this board is I get lots of good laughs!  I thought LOL was " lots of luck"  and I couldn t figure out why people said that all the time!!!  Oh, well!
