My husband and I stopped at a business that sells pallets.  We bought a truck full of wood scraps from them for $20.  We were told that we did not take enough and can come back and get more.  For those of you in Michigan, it is in Charlotte but they must have similar businesses in other places. If we did not have a cap on the truck they would have loaded it for us.  We had as much weight as we felt we wanted in the back of the truck. My arms are going to ache tonight.

Opie431Great idea!  I live near a pallet manufacturing company in eastern Lincoln county, NC.  I will go by & see if I can get some scrap wood.

Opie431Great.  We have been using the wood from a tree that we had chopped down about a year ago.  It is seasoned, but we do have to split the wood.

Opie431Pallets work if you cut them up a bit. Being in construction, I can get all kinds of 2x4 s and cut-offs, in addition to pallets.[:)]
It does help if you have a sawz-all or circular saw.[;)]

Opie431Pallets for us too.  We live in a small town and our local Lawn & Garden Dealer gets his garden tractors in on pallets all Spring and Summer long.  He is always glad for someone to take them off his hands.   We use those and any tree that someone wants cut up and removed from time to time.
