Well, this is a little story about physics, temperature and pressure

Two days ago during one of our recent snow storms I decided that the 2 empty LP gas bottles in the garage were bothering me. So, as I was going out anyway I loaded them in the back of the car and got them filled while I was out.

I guess the temperature was around 24§F and there was snow everywhere.  The guy who filled them decided not to use the scale (it was covered with snow), but watched the guage to see how many gallons he put in.

With two newly filled tanks I left - happy.  Yesterday while talking with the DW on the phone she said one of the LP Gas tanks was " leaking" , and there was a heavy odor of gas in the garage.  I asked if the garage was open of closed and she replied open.  I had her move the tank well out into the yard and drive home.

Well, it seems the guy over filled one of the tanks.  When it warmed up (around 35§F) and the tank was sitting in the sun, the gas expanded and began to vent out of the OPD valve.

 Be careful!

tim5055Glad your wife noticed the smell and got the tank out into the open.  Are you going to get your tanks filled at the same place again?
