The date has been picked for the fall Hickory Run State Park trip.  Here is a link to the park.

The park has modern bathrooms with showers and some electric hookups.  The electric loop also has paved sites and a paved road.  There are water faucets scattered thought out the campground.  There are no water hookups in the park. The dump has 4 dump holes.  There is a lake and bolder field at the park.

I called last week to see what site are allowing pets.  They gave me the following site numbers 209, 211, 216, and 220 that have electric and sites 279 thru 297 non-electric.  The non-electric site are on the side of the campground that I haven t been to before, so I can not say anything about them.  Site 216 flooded in June of 2002 when we had our first trip there.  You could have stayed on the site, but it wouldn t be my first choice.

In the past most people wanted to be in the electric area so that is were I will be making my reservation.  1-888-PA-PARKS (1-888-727-2757) is the number for the call center.  If you are looking at the campground map on the internet the electric sites are round and green in color.  You can camp anywhere in the park that you would like, you don t have to camp in the electric area.

I Let me know what site you reserve and I will post it here.

 tlhdoctlhdoc,

OK,[:)] done Site 209..I will be arriving on the 25 instead of the 26.

HersheyGirl

tlhdocI was on site 209 on the spring trip last year, it is a nice big site and close to the bathhouse.  Glad you are coming.

tlhdoc

tlhdocBeckie are you coming? If so what site?

HersheyGirl

tlhdocTracy...I don t know yet if we are coming.  I have not had a chance to talk to the DH about it.  I would love to come as it is a great park with great campers.  I can always come by myself and camp out in the moose.

tlhdoc

tlhdocYou know you can always camp with us.  If you come alone our PU is your PU.  Even if you bring a kid or 2 along.

DiW

 tlhdocHi Beckie,
I hope to book a site tomorrow. Not sure if Chris and the kids can come, but I missed the last HR trip and I don t want to miss this one too. Either I can figure out how to do the popup alone (towing and all) or I will simply bring our tent. My family complains we re too busy to go away so much but once we arrive at the cg, everything seems to fall into place. If our families can t come, maybe you and I can go it alone.

 Tracy,
Thanks for setting these plans in motion. Am needing to think happy thoughts and camping always brings a smile. This past Saturday, the father of another dancing family at my daughters  dance school died of heart problems. His 11 yr old son found him and called 911. Everyone s in shock since he had gone to the ER the day before and was sent home because the doctors didn t think anything was wrong. Really makes me want to grab my kids and cherish every moment. Did I say I love camping?

tlhdoc[:o]You never know when your time will come.[:(]

Diane we can work something out if your kids don t come.  I could always put up the AAR and put an air mattress out there.  We have had 8 sleep in the Nevada, but one was on the floor on an air mattress.[:D]  We had such a great time at the last H.R. trip, I wish you had been there.  It would be great if we could get everyone on that trip, like MtnDave said.

SheBantam

tlhdocSite 211 as we may be bringin Cookie, idf she is still around (she will be 14 this fall)

MTNDAVE

tlhdocStill, quietly keepin  an eye on you all.

Seriously.  we are just getting around to getting the season planning started (a bit late I may add).

Pu is heading in to the shop for a pre-season tune-up and shoul be ready by April 1st.

Hickory Run is a FOR SURE for us and all lights green.  Just have to make those reservations.  Surely won t take the same site as last fall.  Hated that drop off at the door.  I ll keep you posted.  Will be fun to do this great end of season campout again.  So much fun was had last year.

Hope we can get a lot of the last year attendees back.  Maybe we can offer a 2nd year patch for the Tee Shirts from last year for return campers.  Maybe a Bear Cub - HaHa !!!!

Tracy, is this going to be your " DRY YEAR" ?  Just kidding.  I know the rain clouds kinda followed you around last year.  You sure showed me taht a little rain cant stop a fun weekend.

We are giving up the seasonal lot this year although we can go anytime and pay as we use.  Just felt too tied down to one place and money better spent on exploring other areas.  Soooo..... Watch out,  and keep your eyes open my PUT sticker and distinctive tire cover.  I just may appear near your campground coordinates without warning.

copcarguy

tlhdocHello all!  We are interested...  if it s OK with everyone else, we d like to " put dibs"  on whatever site H&H had for the first trip...  Does anyone remember what number that was??  I can t seem to get the CG map online.  Someone please let us know so we can make the reservations!  Thanks!  [:)]

DiW

 tlhdocHey Rick,
I found my notes from that trip and have you on site 245 and H&H on 246.  I remember you mentioning you liked that site. But before you book it, consider carefully who your neighbors will be (we re booked on 248, next one down). The #s switch from odd to even in that outside loop section but they go in a row (245, 246, 248, 250, 251,253, 254...). Can t wait to see everyone there.
 Diane (site 248)

tlhdoc

tlhdocRick from looking on the map I agree with Diane.  The site you want is 246.

DiW

 tlhdocRick,
I couldn t view the cg map yesterday either but today I went to the HR cg page, clicked on view cg site map and just waited and waited and eventually I got it. Not sure what the problem was. Glad Tracy was able to verify the site info. I picked 248 coz I didn t dare cross you and take your desired site (246) [;)]. Actually J likes being fairly close to a bathroom and I was told 248 has room for the popup as well as room for a tent.  This way I have the option of tenting it if the gang doesn t come. Figure I ll check out a new section of the loop. When I walked it in the snow last year, I also seem to remember liking the sites further down (like 251-253). I would have stayed on 262 again but couldn t remember if it had a place (without trees) to put a tent.
 Di

Oops, sorry about the mixup with the site #s. Guess my mind was elsewhere when I typed it. Fixed it now. Rick, see you went ahead and reserved 246 - you are a brave man [;)]. I hear the bears are real hungry in fall. Should be fun. Oh, now I know why you reserved next to us. You probably figured my 3 kids could easily keep the bears away (or else you simply have to outrun my kiddos). See you next week [:D]
 Diane

copcarguy

tlhdocHello all!  I just wanted to let you all know that we reserved site 246...  Can t wait for another Hickory Run get-together.  We have already begun freaking out about the bears.  [;)][&:]

Di:  your last post fried my brain.  It is really late (early) and it took me a while to figure out that you typed in a 1 instead of a 2 for the site numbers.  I got all nervous that I reserved the wrong site or something...  [8D]

 Talk to you all soon!
