Has anyone camped, especially tent camped in Acadia National Park or Bar Harbor area in Late April or Early May? I was thinking of packing up the tent and the Jeep and heading up there some weekend before the tourist season starts but don t really know what to expect for weather? I noticed that Blackwoods CG is open year round. Thanks!

We tent camped in Acadia NP in late May of  83.  We were both younger then (especially me...PJay has only aged a little in 20 years).  I was warm enough then.

Other than that, the memory is a bit foggy.

garym053Thanks, Austin! Our local High School sent a class up there last year camping and they woke up to 4 inches of snow on the tents! I d like to avoid that!!! I can t remember when it was!

garym053We have popupped in Blackwoods CG on Memorial Day weekend and in August. Don t know about how it would be early May. It was cool but I don t recall us freezing or any snow. But I did learn on another trip to bring the long underwear in case the furnace won t kick on.

garym053I did it! Went online and booked a site for the first weekend in May!!! We ARE going to have a warmer than normal Spring after THIS winter, right? Anyway, we re going to hike and bike Acadia, not swim in the ocean, so it should be okay! Can you tell I m gun-shy after having snow on two Mother s Days in a row???

IIRC, there are no electrical hookups, so it would have to be propane.[:o]

garym053We have a furnace in the pop-up but we re tenting this one or using the SUV Tent that fits over the back of the Jeep. In any case, I don t think I ve ever slept with more than a sheet, it s my wife who will get cold. I guess I ll have to sacrifice and crawl UNDER the blankets to keep her warm.
