The Robinsons

We finally went somewhere (besides the driveway) with our new-to-us PU!  We went to Lake Texoma and aside from faulty tacky lights, DD falling out of the bed at 3 am, DS peeing right off the step (made a nice little trail for us to walk in!), and a very cold morning, we had a great time!

The kids are spending their spring break with their grandparents, so DH and I are going off by ourselves for a whopping two whole nights next weekend!  WOOHOO!

I ve been finding myself checking out the Mr. Fixit board to look for storage solutions and modification ideas.  It s great to know what improvements I need, now I just need to figure out how to do them!  I do have a quick question for y all though -  what do you do with shoes?  We had 6 pairs of shoes laying around the floor of the camper and I think I tripped over each and every one of them at least three times! Thinking about a hanging shoe bag, but where do I hang it from?  Also, (I guess this ll be two questions...)  where do you store dry goods (bread, chips, etc.)?  I m kind of a neat freak and love to have a " place for everything" , but with only so many places to choose from, I m not sure where to put everything.  I d love to hear some ideas from the pros!

I signed up for a webshots account and will put pictures in it eventually, but now, there s a ton of laundry to do!  (I don t understand how there can be so much - we were only gone for one night! [: (])

The RobinsonsGlad you had a good first trip.  We put extra shoes by the door if it is night or in the front storage trunk.  You don t have the trunk so that is not an option for you.  You could put a plastic box outside to put shoes in.  If you do that you should keep a cover on it so you don t have " bugs"  getting into your shoes.  I have 4 stacking bins that I place on the counter to keep some of the light weight items like bread, chips, etc. in.  I also hang a 3 tier basket from the roof support pole.

Trlrboy

The RobinsonsCongratulations on the new toy.  Why don t you join the NTPUCA campout next weekend at Inks Lake State Park down by Georgetown?  I have one open reservation left if you would like to go... $15 a night and you ll be camping with 24 other families that have a popup!

The Robinsons

TrlrboyI wish we could join everyone down there, but the kiddos don t go to Pappy & Memaw s until Saturday, so DH & I can t begin our vacation until then.  I think we re going to go up to Bridgeport that afternoon, though.  Shouldn t take more than an hour to get there.  We will see everyone at Cedar Hill SP in April, though!

 The RobinsonsCongratulations on the trip!!!

Shoes...one thing you can do is keep shoes outside under the awning or under the camper.  Helps keep the inside of the camper a little cleaner.  You could also put a small folding shoe rack under the awning by the door or a Rubbermaid tote by the door to put shoes in.

The RobinsonsWe love to have a nice greasy bacon, egg and cheese sandwhich on an english muffin to start out our day...For the midnight runs to the bath room....Bring along an old laundry detergent bottle...One that holds 100oz s...They are great so you don t have to walk to the bathroom for late night relief....Of course this is only for the men... The big ones can hold up to 3 or 4 uses...Just empty it out in the morning....works well on a small boat also.....[:)][:)]

The Overmans

TrlrboyDoes the NTPUCA ever make down to South Texas (The Houston area)?

The RobinsonsGlad you finally got out and it was a success!
We went for a one-nighter Saturday night and had a great time also.
Shoes;  We keep all of the extra pairs (swim shoes, flip-flops, sandals, hiking boots, etc...) in a low profile plastic bin that stores under the PU near the stepper door.  We allow one pair each for inside the PU which we store under the couch.
Dry goods;  We store them in a restaurant table-bussing bin (the plastic bin that bus-boys and waiter s clear off tables with, ha) that sits on a shelf and can be easily moved around the PU (inside or outside) as needed.  I bought it at a restaurant supply store where I also bought a 2  x 2  fatigue-relief mat (rubber mat the cooks stand on in the kitchen) that we use as our shower floor in the Paha-Que  shower tent.  Keeps our feet clean after a shower.  This fits in the front storage trunk inside of a plastic 13 gallon kitchen garbage bag.

The RobinsonsTHE OVERMANS:  About as far as the North Texas club goes is down by Austin though we did go down past there toward San Antonio once so we could hang out at the Schlitterbahn water park for a long weekend.  The Austin area is about 200 miles from Dallas and that s about our limit for a weekend club trip.

You might want to contact the South Texas Popup Camping Club since they are based out of Houston.  Here s a link:  http://www.sepuc.com/

You sound so pity-ful![:(]  I really, really, really wish we could go, but alas, jobs do get in the way of things sometimes! [: (]  We are going somewhere Saturday afternoon, though.  Haven t quite figured out where yet!  Now I m sad, though.  I was all excited to just get away somewhere, but now I only want to go down to Inks.... may have to talk to that husband o  mine...

That s the South East Texas Popup Campers Club and the link is

I m sure SEPUC is a great club, but they are the Southeastern (United States) PopUp Campers whereas SETPUCC is the South East Texas PopUp Campers Club and most members are from the Houston area but some of us from as far north as Huntsville and others equally as far from Houston in other directions.  Might want to check out both SEPUC  and SETPUCC.
