I thought I was going to pee my pants when I read your story!
Mine should be here tomorrow, can t wait.
For those of you that have gotten yours, what do you think of the quality?  Does it have a floor?  Does it seem amply big enough to be a portable outhouse?

TomToCamp

 JemJen24Could be bigger  [;)]only $28.
 Has no floor.
 Door could open higher I m 6   [:)]only $28.
 Use for porta potti yes.
 Use for shower  Will see
Don t plan on spending all day in it.
I learned how to fold other tents like this. Take Jeffery,s advice and watch how you open it.
 Thanks

JemJen24I had a shorter, wider open dome style one that I used at the beach to provide shade for my little ones. Opening it was a cinch but if I didn t do it right (holding it up high), the sandstorm I created was a quite a mess. Closing it was another thing. I used to feel really proud of myself if I could close it up on the first try. On those occasions, I would often be approached by someone asking where I got it. More often than not, I would struggle to get it closed (and have to reread the directions) and I m sure those around me were smirking. I m hoping to have better luck with this one. My popup laundry basket and my popup car window shade work on a similar principle. You would think I d have the hang of it by now.

For those with them, is there enough room to change clothes in it? 3  x 3  isn t that big. Can you see through the fabric? I remember my old one was not transparent but the fabric was very lightweight and eventually began to fray (I think mostly from rubbing in the sand).

JemJen24JJMom, I read this at work and they thought I was going to quit breathing I was laughing so hard. I d laugh a while and gasp, laugh some more and gasp again. If I had bladder control trouble, I would have been in trouble.

I had a discussion with UPS this AM, shipped 3/13 and still on a truck somewhere between here and MN, is t this the 18th? Brown is messing with me again...

Jeffrey

JemJen24Seems big enough too me, like standing in a phone booth?
3x3 at bottom, about 2x2 at shoulder height. You might have a hard time dressing your kids in it though, to me it s only for one person at a time.
Should do the job for what we need.

It is dark green nylon tent material, It s not transparent but the sun would probably shine through it. So shadows probably.

Quality seemed good too me, We will see how long they last.

JemJen24I have the pop-up screen tent and it does the same thing. Pull it out of the bag and it just seems to explode open.  But folding it back up is a bear. The final step to folding is some little number where you grasp the sides, stick your elbows up, and cross your arms over.  I have to do it about 10 times to get it right.

Suezyque

JemJen24Me thinks that without a bottom, you will HAVE TO stake it down.

 Can you imagine this.....
The campground is busy on a Sunday morning.  Smells of bacon and eggs all around you.   Children running to and fro.  You know how you have to make that morning trip to the throne, especially when you eat that super dutch oven chili the night before.  You go in, sit down and begin to browse the morning paper in your pop up potty room, whilst a stiff wind blows by and all of a sudden you are feeling rather exposed!

JemJen24Ditto what Jeffrey said about size, quality, etc.   What I would like to add is that this outhouse has plenty of entertainment value. Last night DH, who is 6 2"  got in the outhouse and was stalking the kids thru the house like a big scary ghost - the kids called him the " Potty ghost" . Since it has no floor and you can see thru it just enough to clomp around the house, DH had a great time entertaining the kids.  Of course when the doorbell rang, he had to answer it while wearing his outhouse. I had no idea I was buying something so entertaining....  I have not even tried folding it up, we are having far too much fun with it!

Mine came today and I have to say I am VERY pleased with it for the money!
I tried to open it slowly, but it just got away from me and exploded open!
I think it will be the hit of every campground we visit this year and from now on.

I found a couple similar items, but the prices are much higher.  Check these out.

I think this one is too short

SuezyqueGot mine in the mail yesterday.  I was ready for the pop out explosion (ha ha) and two strings were actually tied on mine which kept it from completely popping open.  We wound up having to cut the strings (they were TIGHT) and then it popped right up.

Putting it together was a whole nother matter.  Took me a few minutes to figure it out, but now that I know how to do it, it won t take any time at all.

 VERY handy gizmo!  Thanks Suzyque!

JemJen24I got mine too, and after reading all these hysterical stories about opening and closing, I ve been afraid to open mine.   LOL   If the wet weather outside dries out later, I ll take it out there to give it it s baptism.  Or, maybe it ll be my baptism.   Anyway, thanks Suez, for locating this fantastic bargain for us.
BTW, I was looking at the others that you found, and I noticed that you can see thru the one with the cyclist changing in the parking lot.  Maybe you would want to be careful about not setting these things out in the middle of your campsite on a sunny day.    Your neighbors would not only get their entertainment watching you fling the darn thing open, but then they would get to " see all"  when you use it.  haha

JemJen24For those of you that haven t opened yours, try not to cut the ties that hold it together. The ties help when you close it up. Makes it easier to get it back in the bag.

Sue, thanks for the tip. I ll hold my elbows up when doing the final twist. Maybe it will help.

The directions didn t help me much. This is how I close it. Anyone else have a better way?
 1. Face the zippered (closed) door and push the right side in so it looks like a book, with the door as the cover.
 2. Lie it down flat, door side up.
 3. Grab the bottom edges and fold over until it reaches the door top edges. I kneel at the door top and put these edges under my knees to hold securely (and free up my hands). The fold is away from me.
 4. I cross my arms over for this next part. I grab the top part (only) at the 2:00 position with my LEFT hand, twist it down toward my left knee while I grab the top part (only) at 10:00 with RIGHT hand, twisting it down to my right knee. I release the edges under my knees and everything sort of moves into place.
 5. If it doesn t lie flat at this point, you can guide it with your hip or spread the circles with your hands until they form a flat surface.
 6. Holding all the edges tightly together, tie it up (the ties should be on the outside edges). Do this quickly before it explodes on you.
 7. Slip it into the carry bag and smile at your success[:D].

 Anyone have a better way?

wiininkweDi, we found at work, that it takes 3 people, one to hole, one to twist and then one who can tie really really quick. Our inhouse girl scout leader loves when I buy new things, she loves for me to open them up and let her oww and aww. Then she helps me by doing the manual stuff that my arthritic knees and fingers give me problems with.

wiininkwe

wiininkweOMG the closing it up stories are even funnier than the flinging open stories.   I was envisioning a kind of  twister  game episode for the description DiW gave us.   If you really need to do all that, then maybe this is the one my DS will get for his b-day,LOL.  Opening his present will be the laugh of the day.

wiininkweI have one of those popup screened rooms (6x6) and already knew that when it opens, it REALLY opens.

I think mine will stay open flat on the bed once it is opened again and not in use.
