Just got back from my son s hockey game, which was awesome!!  The crowd was pretty big but the parents were pretty well behaved.  I ve been to some games where there is always some parent screaming away at their kid while they are on the ice or screaming at the other team[:@]   When we registered for the season, parents were required to sign a contract stating they would not interfere or behave inappropriately at games and would be ejected from the building should anyone get too riled up.  You d think this was at the least high school hockey...but it s 9 and 10 year olds!!!!!!!

It is of no benefit to the child participating to be embarrassed by a parent whose a screamer.  I firmly believe in just let the kids play and leave the coaches alone too.  It s amazing how some grownups misbehave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CamperrooI cheer my heart out, but I don t interfere with the game.  Well there was that one baseball game where the umpire wouldn t call a delay and there was lightning close by.  I did take DS out of the game and go get in our car until the storm passed.  I couldn t believe Little League would play in a thunder storm.

CamperrooJason umped some ballgames last year and got yelled at for calling a game (for lightning). . Same thing happened this year at Kelsey s soccer game when we heard thunder. They wouldn t call it but stopped play " to see what happens" . The kids weren t allowed to leave but after quite a while, the game was called and we got to go home and dry off...

This morning my 10yoDD had a bball playoff game. Sure enough, just like last year, in walked 3 or 4 coaches/parents to scout our team in case we make it to the next level (which we did [:D]). Don t see what the big deal is - I mean they re just 3rd, 4th & 5th graders and this is just a Recreation league. I mean I can see being more involved with the travel team, since the idea there is to expose the kids to more competitive play but rec? I like to see every girl take shots (and hopefully make at least one) but I m definitely in the minority. By the way, they called a technical (or was it 2) on the other team s coach because they insisted on double teaming our girls, which is against the bylaws. Some coaches also run up the score tremendously which just devestates the other team (remember these are just little kids). When we ve been ahead by a bunch, our coach makes the girls " pass 3 times before shooting"  or concentrate on layups or something. It tends to even play somewhat but allows our younger/inexperienced players more play time. My 10yo also plays travel soccer, which is a bit more competitive and I have seen parents banned from the sidelines for constant screaming. What s really sad is these parents  kids are actually good players but good isn t good enough for these parents. Their kids simply aren t allowed to make any mistakes. Instead of going home feeling proud of their accomplishments, these kids go home feeling like they let their parents (or coaches) down.

CamperrooI ve been through the thunder and lightening deal too!  Geez they weren t ready to call the game till the lightening came close enough to make our hair stand on end.  As soon as my DH saw the streak slice through the sky over the field...he said we re out of here and grabbed DS!  By the time we took off for the truck it was raining buckets and got pretty fierce!!  People were scattering like crazy!

I m a huge cheering mom too, that s the good kind[:)]..it s the nasty ones that yell criticisms that you want to duct tape to a wall somewhere!![:D]
