Our maiden voyage is coming up, and we want to know from the experienced campers here.... WHAT IS ONE THING YOU JUST CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT while camping?  In other words, something that you would turn around and get at home if you were still close enough when you remembered you forgot!

Thanks!  By the way, if you are listing something your purchased at a " speciality"  camping store, please let us know where you bought it.

my4cutiesUmbrella.  If you bring one it will not rain.

my4cutiesWe never leave home without a fully stocked first aid kit and a roll of duc tape.
You can cure just about any problem with either one (or both).
Everything else we carry is a luxury item except maybe the heater on cold weekends.
 Hope this helps,
 Cheryl

my4cutiesI don t think we would be returning home if we forgot Toilet paper.
Most places we camp, there is a store close by, where we can buy anything we forgot.

I see your maiden voyage is to a KOA, and luckily most KOA s we ve gone to have had a decent store, stocked with all the essentials for a camping trip, so rest assured, that item you forget, (believe me you will forget something), you should be able to pick up.

I have only returned home once, and that was dry camping, when we ran down the battery, so drove the 30 minutes home, charged the battery, did some errands, and were back at the campground by noon.

my4cutiesCheck the lug nut size on your trailer and spare tire.  They may not be the same as your TV s.  Also, the spares nuts can be different than the trailers.

my4cutiesHaving kids, I definatly make sure I have two pairs of shoes for each kid, and sweatshirts and T-shirts.  Because you know as soon as your setting up they will find the nearest body of water (river, lake, puddle), promise not to fall in, and come back with the only pair of shoes they have dripping wet!  [:@] And for that cool day that you were counting on - it will be 80 degrees.  [&:] Or, you ll pack t-shirts and it ll be 50 degrees. [;)] As a mom, this has been a constant lesson for me to learn.  Now I just pack every kid thing I could possibly need for every kid scenerio!

my4cutiesMy first thought was liquer but then as I thought more I would say money.  There is nothing money will not buy so if you need something that bad, buy it.

Act, I thought you were going to say your kids when I first started reading.

All the other notes are good especially the one about changing tires, we alway carry a 4 way lug wrench.

my4cutiesI forgot my pillow one time[:(]  longest night of my life!

CamperrooMy wife would go anywhere, at anytime, but not without her pillow. We have carried that thing thousands of miles, even while touring on the motorcycles, the pillow went. Once we forgot it at a motel in Kearney (?) Nebraska. About 60 miles down the road realized it wasn t with us. We had to turn around and backtrack. Then start over. The maid at the motel said " I thought you d be back, it looks well traveled" .

It still goes along every trip!

my4cutiesBelieve it or not, a can opener is almost a necessity.   Without it you wouldn t be able to open that can of coffee, the other necessity.

my4cutiesWe forgot pillows on one trip.  After the first night we went to a store and bought new pillows.  They now live in the PU.[:D]

The Robinsons

my4cutiesWe had our maiden voyage just a couple of weeks ago.  The one thing that we think was our best purchase (besides the PU, of course![:D]), was a porta potti (if your PU doesn t already have one, obviously.).  When the kids had to go potty after we were all ready for bed, it was so nice just to be able to pull the little potty out of the cabinet instead of having to put on shoes & jackets and trek to the bathrooms.  It also came in handy when the kids were up bright and early the next morning having to go (again!) and all I had to do was point to the potty on the floor because I was not ready to get up yet![: (]

 Have a great trip! [:)][:D][;)][8D]

Or Mom will get caught by a rogue wave while showing the kids a cool tidepool creature and have to live in her shower thongs all weekend, shortly after having foot surgery, which causes her newly exposed scarred skin to burn, thereby leaving a horrible discolored scar to this day, so now Mom will never be able to be a foot model!  Not that I did this or anything.[&:]
