PopupnutThe next time we re back at the Padre Island National Seashore on the Texas coast we ll be camping on the beach.  We stayed at Mustang Island two weeks ago, and it was (literally) camping in a parking lot.  Blech!   Next time we re camping on the beach.

 MommaMiaHey Cindy,

I d love to beach camp with your crew - Mike doesn t like the SP s because he and I both like to take the dog along - and there are only 2 in the state that allow dogs and neither one of them are very appealing!!!!
I was thinking more along the lines of Cape Ann (Mass) or the Maine coast for starters - I know most of those places allow dogs.
I grew up on the beaches in Gloucester Mass and every summer was glorioius - although we were not camping - I d love for my kids to have that same experience - combing the beaches for shells and finding sand dollars and identifying the tracks of sand-pipers!!!  Great memories!!  Perhaps I should just convince the kids and they can do the work on DH!!!!
As far as the extra work and sand headaches - most of the folks replying here make it sound like it s not such a big deal - I guess the worst thing to worry about would be wind - or really bad weather....
I hope that within this camping season I can convince him to give it a try!!!

We will be in touch about getting together in Connecticut  for more camping fun!  I d love to see you and your crew again!!!

PopupnutCamped on the beach once down in Galveston.  Never again!  I love camping but sand gets every where.  Like to thought I d never get it cleaned up.[:@]  Worst part was I had my FIL s big, Ford LTD wagon (this was back in the late  70s) and sand got inside of it!  Ran it through a " Full-Service"  car wash 3 times and still had to spend 3-4 hours detailing it before I felt it was clean enough to return.  FIL said I was nuts doing that but I could not return it in worse condition then I got it.

 Never again![: (]

 PopupnutBeth-

My Inlaws are boat people and lived in Maine for quite a few years.  On top of it, they are avid campers so I ll ask them if they have any suggestions.
