CamperrooIn a campground only have a fire if we are going to cook on it in the evening, or if we are going to sit out around it.  At our own place, we have a fire going from morning til night in the spring and fall, and in the evenings if cool enough during the summer.  We gather dead and downed wood from our own place.

CamperrooWe start our fire after dinner and keep it going until we go to bed. I m the pyro, so I m the one who builds it and then tries to add all the logs when my DH isn t looking![;)]

CamperrooWe do almost all our cooking over the fire, so it s going pretty much from when we get to the cg until about an hour before we leave.[8D]

CamperrooAgain, second reply here, first one must be lost in cyberspace!
Usually start fire in morning to warm wife and water for breakfast dishes. Then put it out and go paddling, hiking or biking. Sometimes start it for lunch to roast hot dogs over, then put it out and take some Tums for the indigestion the hot dogs caused! Then start it to help cook supper, heat water for dishes and for " campfire TV"  the rest of the night until bed time!

CamperrooGary, Like that " Campfire TV" [8D][:D]
We usually only run the fire at night..." where s the remote control, dear?..." [:D]

If the weather is cool to cold or we are doing a lot of campfire cooking we may run it most of the day.

One weekend while camping with Cub Scouts the weatherman lied and a cold front ran through we probably went through 2 full cords of fire wood, just staying warm. The highs were supposed to be in the upper 60 s and ended up in the low 40 s

CamperrooSometimes, heck MOST times, " Campfire TV s better than the real thing!!! Gotta love those weathermen, they do add excitement to our lives!

CamperrooWe generally have the fire going in the am to have our coffee around.....a very relaxing way to start the day. We usually re-light it after dinner when we know we are getting ready to settle in for the night.
