DW s chemo get s over with in late April, and my Cardiac Rehab is up around the same time so we re going PU shopping between my birthday and her s 5/21 (she d kill me if I put the year in)[:@]
We were all set on getting a Flagstaff (love the slide out front trunk and innerspring mattresses, but now the New Starcraft high box series has reared it s head. (larger fridge, even an oven (DW s like), and the front trunk while not sliding out has side panels for access when popped up.) We are lucky in that we ve got a terrific dealers for both Starcraft & Flagstaff with 5 miles of the house.

brainpause

mike4947This is a fun (but occasionally frustrating) time! Happy hunting, and hope to see you at the campground soon.

BTW, are you doing Phase II Cardiac Rehab (monitored while exercising)? Happy exercising too, from your friendly popupping cardiac nurse practitioner! (and his cardiac ICU RN wifey).

mike4947Sorry to hijack my own thread, but yup had my stress test today and start Wenesday. Nothing new though it s my second time around. first time was after bypass surgery in  97.
Doctor already told me to forget the cordless drill, said I d need the excersize.[;)]

mike4947Sounds like the timing is working out great for you guys.  Good luck with everything, including which camper you ll pick.

mike4947Mike, this gives you both something wonderful  to look forward to as you  get the midical  stuff out of the way and the dark days of winter become " history" .  I truly believe there is great healing power in  anticipation of happy times ahead.  (Just dont get bogged down in the gritty details of  making that final pick).  Whatever you choose, it sounds like you cant go wrong.  Happy Camping!!

ThunderRock

 mike4947Looks like " coin toss time" !!

Whatever you choose, hope you have good luck & happy times with it.. BTW, take care w/the re-hab too. [:)] ......now where s my " campfire icon for peace"  .......

tlhdoc

mike4947First I hope you are both doing better.

Second what a choice.  Having an oven would be great, but so are the mattresses.  2 good dealers, it sounds like you need to really decide what you want.  Have fun shopping.[:)]

mike4947I really like the looks of that new Starcraft. If you don t mind not being able to see over the top of camper the high box gives you higher cabinets, better seats, and the bigger fridge. Our Jayco has a higher box than the Colemans do, and I like the higher seat backs. I would get one of the 3 with the step for the rear bunk if you plan to have it used for sleeping often. Lots of people have posted that they don t like having to climb over a seat, but we think it s nice to have something to step up on. I also like those 14"  tires. Smoother ride, better bearing life and higher load carrying capacity.

Gamecock Camper

mike4947If the doc is giving the ok to go pop-up camping, then it sounds like you are on the mend.  I agree that positive thinking (and healthy eating, exercise, etc...) is a great big plus when in the healing process.

Your choice of campers sounds great.  I think I ll go to the Starcraft site to see the oven that goes into a PU.  I personally like setting up a camp kitchen away from the camper, but wow.... you just wonder what they are going to add next to pop-up campers.  I have the slideout front storage trunk and you really can t go wrong.  having acess to all the storage once the camper is set-up is great.  The only minus is that with the slide-out storage bin there is no access to the front storage compartment from the inside of the camper (some campers have doors inside the camper that allow access to the front storage trunk).  Since I did not have a front storage compartment on my Jayco pop-up, when I upgraded I am thrilled to have a front trunk.

 Congrads and good luck.

mike4947It took my wife a long time to recover from chemo. The first year she was very weak. We just celebrated her chemo 10 year anniversary. It was a good feeling. Good luck.

mike4947WOW!   2 decent dealers near by!  I d like just one.  Any camper shows you can attend before hand?  You can sometimes get better deals like extras thrown in.  Besides it s fun to shop!

 Lord Bless!

mike4947Well DW is doing well on the her chemo, and as far as the PU buying goes, I m lucky enough to have a friend who s idea of fun is making salespeople and sales managers grovel. I pick out what I want and he grins and begins. We take him and his DW out to dinner every time he " helps"  me get the best price. He s been known to hold a salemanager hostage for hours over $5 a month on a payment.
I m just glad he s on my side cause if I had to buy from him I d have paid list + 10%[:D] as it was on my last truck he got me dealer cost less half the holdback and two free oil changes and inspections. Took him 5 hours of constant haggling, I had to leave for a while I couldn t take it.
