When camping who does most of the work. This includes getting ready to leave.[:D]

Cheryl

whitestar505I do almost all of the getting ready, packing, and loading the van. Dh does the majority of the setup, with my help. All in all I think we pretty much split everything down the middle. We ve never consciously decided who would do what, we ve just gone with our strengths. I m the more organized one and he s the more technical/hands on kind. It works great for us. Campground chores are pretty much split also, as are cooking chores. DH likes grilling (anything with fire involved!) and we both just enjoy camping!

whitestar505Whoever is home first or has the time.  I usually bring it all out to Willard, he loads it up.  works good for us.

I pack for me and our girls, pack and load everything in the camper, back the camper and help with set up, do the cooking and cleaning, etc.

Worth every moment of it just to be able to go camping.[;)]

whitestar505DW gets all the food planned and put together and gets her clothes out.  I do the rest from packing the truck and hooking up the camper.  She offers me encouragement and fixes cocktails.  Works for us.

whitestar505I do the listmaking and general packing and my husband packs his own clothes.  I do most of the cooking and the dishes while my husband does most of the set up.  I help with the set up and he does the cooking or dishes once in a while.  He cleans the stove every time we use it for something that spatters, something I would hate to do.
He is waterproofing right now and will clean the carpet, I usually vacuumn.
I make the fire.  He was taught the old " throw kerosene on the fire"  method.  In three weeks doing it my way I use less then a book of matches, his way we would use the same amount but probably set the woods on fire. He can pack things where he wants in the trunk, I plan the rest of the storage.

whitestar505Like Cheryl, we play to our strengths.  I m a planner and organizer, so I do all trip preparation and packing.  My DH is the action man - he hooks up, drives and pops up with the help of our DS.  We both unpack, I cook, he cleans and the kids pitch in.  We pop down together - I like the teamwork.

whitestar505This thread must be related to the  stressee  thread...

Both of us do the work.  DW does the organized stuff (food, clothing, reservations, etc.).  I do the packing in the car, the camper, the driving, etc.  We do the setup and popdown together.

I constantly am doing  something  the whole time we are camping, which usually is putzing with something (probably why I bring a full set of tools with me...).

whitestar505I think we share the duties. I pack up the camper, food, toys, clothes for everyone, etc. DH makes sure we have all the necessary stuff in case of emergency and for hook ups. I bring him the stuff and he packs up the back of the SUV. We set up together and take down together. Togetherness that is what makes camping fun [;)].

whitestar505I say it s 50-50 with each of us doing what we do best.  DW says we each do 75 percent.

whitestar505We share but I do the majority since I have more time. I do all the planning/reserving/packing/navigating. Chris does the towing and water/electric hookups. We both set up/take down the camper with help from the kids. I do most of the cooking but Chris is capable of doing it all himself, he just usually chooses not to [;)]. He prefers to do the cleanup, which isn t much since we often use paper/plastic.

whitestar505We both have our jobs.  I pack everything up - girls clothes with their help, my stuff, food, & all that jazz.  DH packs his clothes & anything else he wants to bring.  I usually load up the van.  DH gets the fridge cooling, hitches up, drives, gets us settled into a site (with my help, or sometimes he thinks hindrance!).

Once camping, we split a fair number of the duties.  We both do the setup & takedown.  I do a lot of the cooking, he usually grills.  I do most of the packing up again, he deals with the grey water & porta potty [;)].

All in all, I don t think either of us truly feels we do everything and we try to relax & have a good time (after the frequent case of the grumpies at setup!).

whitestar505I had to laugh when I started thinking that if left to his own devices my DH would throw the bike in the truck along with his tool box that has all the hook-ups, hitch the camper up and hit the drive thru store, dump ice in cooler, add Diet Coke and Coors and he s good to go!  So, as you can see it is I that does the planning, packing, lists, menus and every obsessive thing I need to do to insure that once at the campground we are fed, clothed and can actually function without any hitches!  Although, given the " stress"  thread I really wish I could be more laid back like my DH and less obsessive like I am!

g-whiz

whitestar505We are definitely stereotypes when it comes to getting ready to go camping.  I m the organizer/packer of food and clothing, but DH carries it all down from our second story condo to the car.  When we hook up it takes teamwork to get the PU out of the garage and then I back the car up while DH guides me and he hooks everything up.  Once there and the PU is cranked up (by DH), then he does the outside and I do the inside (it s teamwork for the awning, tho).  Since we camp with NNC, neither of us ever has to worry about who is going to cook because it is usually Larry or Mike or Bonny....  [;)]  When we camp solo, we eat out ALOT.  When we get home, DH carries everything back into the house, I do the unpacking and laundry, while he takes the car and PU to the carwash.  Then we both put it back to bed in the garage.
