If you have a cassette potty or a porta potty, what type of toilet paper do you use?  Do you use RV paper or regular house hold stuff?  Do you use one ply or two?  If you use regular house hold stuff do you have any problems with it not breaking down?

Opie431

tlhdocI use the cheapest single ply that I can buy.  I did a test, I put two folds of each kind of toilet paper in 2 cups of water and let it sit overnight.  The very cheap disolved at about the same rate as the expenisve camping toilet paper. The expensive, soft kind did not break up enough.
We have had our port a potti for two years and I have only used it three times altho it is set up and ready to use each night.  We only put water in it beause we know that I usually sleep all night without waking up.

rednekrubbrduckrednekrubbrduck try wiping  before it dries. I think that paper will do the job then.[:D][:D]

 Tracy,
Why didn t I know the questions, like commercials on tv, would degrade to the toilet paper level? I shudder to think of what lies next! Thetford paper is our choice for the porta potti (and at home when someone forgets to buy the soft stuff). [:o][;)][:(]

tlhdocCorncobs.  Use a red one first.  Then use a white one to see if you need another red one.[8D]

 tlhdocWhat ever the SP provides[:D]!

Would have thought the white one was to see if you ve been a little too aggressive with the red one. [:@]  LOL

tlhdoci use toilet paper specifially for rvs.  I find it does break down a bit easier than scott paper that i use at home...got 12 rolls on sale and i figure it will last me a while since i will probably use less than two rolls a year.

tlhdocLike Opie431, we did use the cheapest single ply.  At the end of last year camping world had a special to buy a 4 pack of the RV stuff for $ .01, so I picked some up.

So far I have not noticed a major difference, but I admit in have not " investigated"  too closely.[;)]

tlhdocWe bought the RV stuff and didn t even use 1/2 a roll last season.  I guess it has something to do with only one of the four of us being female [:D]  Probably will use more when DD potty trains.

Home stuff. It seems to breakdown if given enough time  1-2weeks.....just kidding. If we used it that morning it might not be broken down completely by noon.. Most of the time not a problem.

tlhdocMy dealer actually told me to use the cheapest one ply I could find. He has saved me a bundle (sorry) even though he sells the RV stuff and could have told me something different.

tlhdocbj s wholesale club s brand, or Sam s club 1-ply,

BARDENL

tlhdocWe use Scott Tissue single ply at home because we are on a septic tank and also use it in our porta potti.  After our first 2-night trip DH observed the flow carefully while dumping and saw nothing but liquid.  We use the high power Thetford Aqua-Kem holding tank fluid - it contains Methyl Alcohol and Formaldehyde.  Results might vary with milder types.

tlhdocWe had been using cheap 1 ply with the porta-potti; now with the tt, dh thinks we should only use the rv type.  We ll see.
