After reading so many positive reports on the Bal Leveler, I am considering ordering one. Before I do I have 3 questions that hpefully someone can answer...

 (1) How well does it work in softer ground?

 (2) I have a 1990 Coleman Williamsburg 20.5 x 10 tires. Will the leveler work with this size tire?

 (3) What about the tongue? If the BAL Leveler is employed and the 4 corner stabilizers are down is there any need to do anything with the tongue for even more stability?

gstubbertFrom training a neighbor to use his we found if you don t sink into the ground standing on it neither will the BAL. Yes, it ll fit your tires and the ones I ve seen usually also chock the unleveled wheel but don t do anything to the tongue jack.

gstubbertI always chock my tongue wheel so it can t roll.

gstubbertI ve used my leveler about 6 times so far.  I don t know whether it would sink into soft ground because I have either been on a paved site pad or gravel.  Some people have suggested putting a piece of plywood under the BAL leveler to prevent possible sinking.

I should work fine for the tires you mention.  If the leveler is on and you have the other wheel chocked and you have the stabilizers down I doubt the tongue wheel would be able to move but if it makes you feel safer chocking it, go ahead.

gstubbertThe directions say it is not for tires as small as yours. Some people say it works, but you need to check it out. There are probably some here that have the same size tire and can tell you if it works.

I only tried mine out in the yard the other day, and it seems to work quite nicely.
I also have the ten inch tires.
I m sure there are other board members that have the leveler and 10"  tires, too.

gstubbertit worked fine on the tires of my 8  Jayco.

gstubbertI have the exact same tire size as you do (1994 Coleman Yosemite) and the BAL works great.  Living here in Florida, pretty much all the ground is " soft" .  I ve used the BAL 2 times and haven t had any probs with it sinking much.

jstubbertThe biggest problem we ve encountered is trying the get the BAL under the tire when the ground is soft AND the grass is long. We usually try to park the camper with the tire sitting on a couple of Lynx Levelers laid end to end. That way it will (hopefully) be a little easier to get the BAL under the tire.  I ve seen several mentions of using a piece of plywood under the tire and have been thinking about trying that also.

I still think the BAL leveler is the greatest thing since sliced bread! [;)]

jstubbertI ve had the BAL leveler for over a year and love it, but have never really put it to the test until this past weekend. I had to camp on a slope and had the BAL all the way up to within 1 turn before the trailer was level. I then stabilized and never had a problem. There was some grass under the tire, but that was never an issue. I m really glad I had it as I would have had to use a lot of wood or plastic blocks to get it up that high.
