 Hey Guys,
 [:)]
That do you think about them orangemen this past Monday. I have waited 50 Years  for a national title for them. Now all we have to do is get the football team on the same sheet of music[:)]

I am, as you all would say, A HAPPY CAMPER!

whitestar505When I was a kid in the late 80s, me and my friends were huge basketball fans. We all played in junior high and high school. My friends and I all had our favorite Big East team (This was back when the big east was a powerhouse league. And yes, four California kids were *obsessed* with Big East basketball. Two of them were transplants from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, respectively) : one friend s favorite was Georgetown, the other St. Johns, the other Pitt, and mine was Syracuse.  I loved the Orangemen. So I grew up watching Pearl Washington, Stevie Thompson, Rony Seikaly, Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas etc play for Syracuse. My friends and I would debate and argue about our favorite team endlessly. The rivalries were intense. I think we liked seeing each other s team lose more than we liked seeing our own win. My particular favorite was when Villanova beat Georgetown in " the perfect game" . My friend s jaw just hung there. Yet I was devastated back in 1987 when Keith Smart hit that jumper from 16 feet on the left side of the court halfway between the free throw line-extended and the baseline. After high school I didn t follow them as closely since my friends and I went away to separate colleges, but I did watch them play in the finals in the mid 90s when John Wallace carried the team on his back. I rarely watch sports now and didn t see the championship game, but when I saw that Syracuse had won the championship when everyone was picking Kentucky or Kansas to win it all, the little kid in me finally got that championship that was lost in 1987. It was nice for Boeheim to finally win it all.

whitestar505How do you guys think I feel?  Ever since the Old Syracuse National s ran out of town and became the 76 ers. SU basketball s been the only game in town. Lot s of NIT wins from years ago, but this was the fourth time there wasn t a nail left unbitten around here, but the first time no one minded the pain.

 mike4947Hey Mike4947,

I do remember those days. We use to go to the War Memorial all the time to watch them play. I also remember sneaking in to watch the SU football games just about every saturday up on the hill before the Dome. Well all I can say is congrauations to all of us and SU and I do hope SU will get some more national titles.
