champ521I have a set of velcro clips. The velcro pads stay on the awning rail, and the clips just stick on to them. From that point, the lights just hang inside the little hooks...

champ521We don t use any clips at all. We just wrap the cord around the tension pole on one side, do one wrap around the center pole in front and wrap again on the far tension pole. This worked all last season with no problem- no slipping and very little to bang against anything in the wind.

We have the G4 glass bulbs that are multicolored. They put off a nice low light.

champ521I am missing something here, why do we need tacky lights? What do you all use them for? Looks to me that it is some more to do for setup. At nite the bugs love them I am sure. So again I ask what do you use them forrrrrrrrr ?[&:]

Tim5055, Do you use them out there were the bears sit ?[:D]

champ521We use one long stand of lights (red, green, yellow peppers) across the front of our awing.  It gives off a subduded light which has a pleasant moonlit feel to it.  I wouldn t want anything bright.  As for bugs, I haven t noticed more than usual, we also burn citronella candles.  It also helps my kids stay oriented at night, I don t let them wander far, but it helps them to find the pu quick if they need to.  And if I step out of the pu then I can see where I m stepping in case of critters. [&:]  We ve tried both using and not using them, and I prefer spending the extra 2min max hanging them up.

Bugs do love the lights, and if you just use the light next to the trailer door, how many are going to scoot inside everytime you open it? Since my tacky lights are hung along the ouside edge of the awning, the bugs can zip around over there instead of right next to my door opening![: (]

They are also not as bright (at least mine aren t), which makes them a little less obtrusive on the site next door!!![;)]

champ521I like my chili lights, tacky or not.  I use aligator clips (electrical department) but think they are too strong for the purpose.  Might check out the plastic ones.
We don t have and outside light on the camper so the chili lights give a bit of light and some cheer.  I m thinking of adding a few brighter white ones for night/outside reading.

Gone-CampingYou forgot, they look nice also . With the yellow light by the door we have not found it to bad at all. I don t know if I really want the tacky lights. I have been waiting for someone to convince me why I should get them? [;)]

whitestar505Maybe it s just me, but I find them invaluable -- especially at night when I am trying to find my way back to the campsite after exiting the bath house from a  different door than the one I went in.  [:D]  I m getting o l d and confuse easily.  [:(]

I use low-tech u-cut to length twist ties to secure our tacky lights.  The toughest choice is which set to string up! I went a bit overboard when it came to lights.  If you tend to be a bit compulsive about shiny stuff too, avoid any and all TARGET stores -- especially the clearance racks!

 jeffsxylJeffsxyl,

Most of the time BW and myself are in Bed before lights out in the summer months. Dogs are use to getting up at 4:30 am because this is the time we head into work.  So, as it stands right now no need for them. I do see in the future my possible need with the grand kids an all.

Where have you been camping ?
