Do you belong to a camping group or club?  If you answer YES which one?
I am part of TPUC " Tennessee Pop Up Campers" .

Opie431

YellowXterraNo and am not apt to join as I do not like to camp within clear view of anyone else.  The clubs always seem to pick the apartment type campgrounds to meet in.

cyclone

YellowXterraYep. [;)] TPUC.  We must have planned well; trips this year include state parks, COE, private, and the Smokies--dry camping in the National Park.   (end of shameless plug).

iwantapopup

YellowXterraYep, MAPPUC, we re still new, still looking to grow and everyone is welcome to join!

Trlrboy

YellowXterraNTPUCA.  Our last campout was 3-4 days long with 26 families.  Great time.

YellowXterraI m also a proud member of NCCNEPHCOFF (NNC). [:)]

We figured out this past weekend (my DH and me - I ll let him give his own 2 cents worth), that we have been to 10 NNC rallies with the first being June 2002.  Since we are more central in California, we also camped last May with the Southern California group which is now known as SNCCNEPHCOFF ( Southern-most North Central California Non-Exclusive PopUp & Hybrid Camping Organization of Friendly Folks) since we merged in December 2002 by having a rally midway between LA & SF.  They are called the Snickers for short.  [;)]

We have camped in every kind of campground you can imagine from the " apartment-type"  - Opie431 -  (compact, close, full-hookups) to the campground that has raccoons stealing our coolers and using the bathrooms to wash their food!  [:D][8D]  Every experience is led by a volunteer Wagonmaster, and each experience is new and different (except there is ALWAYS LOTS of food).  Now matter where we are camping, no matter what the weather, we have the BEST time!

Check out our Website because that tells the whole story and then some.

 YellowXterraYep, Nick-Neff-Cough member here.

G-Whiz is right, we camp at all kinds of different campgrounds. I think a camping club is a perfect compliment to however you already camp. It gives you a chance to hang out with people you really enjoy, but there are no obligations. You can attend or skip as many rallies/events as you want. There are no fees, so there really isn t anything to lose and a lot to gain. We try to pick locations that not only can handle the size of our group (usually 10-20 sites) but still connect us with the outdoors. We have camped at the beach, in the hills, in the California Coastal Range, on the Delta, the Bay Area inland, on a lake, and on rivers. Our upcoming rallies include the Gold Country, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite.  We ve stayed in private campgrounds, county parks, state parks, and upcoming Thousand Trails/NACO thanks to Calstate 360/361.

But for NNC it s not the location that matters as much as the people attending. As G-Whiz says, we have fun no matter where we go or what the weather.

As G-Whiz says (she s a wise woman, huh?) check out our website.

*Our welcome page explains the origin and spirit of our group

*Our " About NNC" explains the complex administrative aspect of our organization

*The " Membership" page explains how to get involved, a list of our past rallies with links to pictures and summaries of the most recent ones, and a list of our members with pictures of some of them. A few members even have uncanny resemblances to celebrities. Each member has their own family webpage. It s a work in progress.

*Our " Upcoming Events" page has information on upcoming rallies. A NNC trademark is to label each rally with a catchy name.

*Our " Camping Tips" page is just that and includes really important information that every camper should read before heading out into the wilderness.

*We also have " Campground Reviews" (which is lacking content), " Links" to other camping information, A " bulletin board"   (which is rarely used), A " photo album"   for members only, a " Contact NNC" form page, as well as an online store.

So stop by and take a look. There s quite a bit of content on the site and we think you ll find it amusing.

griffsmom

YellowXterraCertifiable NNC member here too, although I m one of the " Snickers."  (Georgeanne, you forgot--we re not the Southern part of NNC; we re the least Northern part of NNC!)[8D][:D][;)]

We were able to attend our first official NNC rally this past weekend in San Luis Obispo (it rained just a tad [;)]), which is farther North than my DH ever said he would drive--260 miles farther with a rambunctious 2 y/o, to be exact.  But with the comraderie rampant among NNC members here on the boards (be careful if you venture into NNC s camping club forum; it s just not safe![;)]), and a healthy dose of peer pressure, DH caved and off we went.  On the way home, DH said he had a great time; everyone was really nice, and he d camp with them again![:D]

G-whiz is right about there being new and different experiences to be had. There are also lots of families with lots of kids that all have a great time together.  In fact, the kids get excited for each new trip so that they can see their friends again!  In many ways, it s easier for my family and I to camp with a group because there are activities and people around that keep our little one more easily entertained than if it were just DH and I.  The rallies are as structured or unstructured as you want them to be, and the best part is the traditional Saturday night potluck, where it is an NNC requirement that there be at least twice as much food as campers.  This bylaw has yet to be broken!

My family loves camping with a group, although we do get second looks when we say that we re going camping with people we met on the Internet!  If you re hesitant to join a camping group, just remember, there s nothing that says you have to camp with these people every trip.  But it s nice to be able to go with a group of people with whom you already have something in common--a love of camping.

BTW, there is " SoCal"  rally being held in Temecula May 2-4, although it is certainly not limited to campers from SoCal.  If you d like to join us, there s still space.  I m the wagonmaster and I don t have to confirm sites until Monday, April 21st, so there are still a few more days for you to decide to join us!  You can read about the rally here: http://avenuecable.com/~scott423/2003socalroundup/ and here: http://www.popuptimes.com/members/tt.asp?appid=40

Cheryl

YellowXterraThe DH and I are loosely affilliated with MAPCE and I helped organize the first POPUPTIMES Rally. We also belong to CAMPERS & COMPANY. We also have friends that we enjoy camping with all over the Eastern Seaboard. We enjoy camping with large and small groups and by ourselves. Love seeing new places and making new friends.
 Happy camping to all,
 Cheryl (& the CAPEd CODger)
