RE: Hawaii Trip

 Ok, everybody.  I need help with some good luck wishes for my oldest DS s trip to Hawaii.  His high school orchestra is in Honolulu for an international  high school compitition against some of the world s best high school orchestras.  After many months of skrimping and saving we finally got him there.  Tonight he is at a Luaa (sp) and will probably eat like a hog.  Monday starts the compitition, to where there orchestra will play 4  one hour concerts through out the week.  Tuesday he and a few other friends will take a helicopter ride to the big island to see the erupting volcanoes.
 
 I sent him with a digital camera and enough cards to take over 600 pictures.  He was told to take scenic pictures and concert pics and just a few " thong"  pics from Waikiki beach.  Of course, being seventeen, I expect more thong than anything.[]  I will put the pics on my site when he gets back.
 
 So please everyone, send him good luck wishes for a winning performance.

 When we were there last year on our honeymoon (and posting to PUT), we only saw a couple of thongs, if that makes you feel any better. However, it was " winter"  there, so there might have been some fewer. It was actually pretty classy folks, for the most part, I guess because it is harder to get to than Florida or similar places.
 
 Too bad he couldn t take the camper with him on the flight. Holly and I tried to get the camper attached to the back of our 747. But we decided that the tires were too small and would burn on takeoff.

 It s not the takeoff that counts.  The real problem is the lack of electric air brakes.  I wouldn t trust surge air brakes.  A little turbulence, and they ll lock up for sure!
 
 Oh, and I d advise against towing the pop-up to Hawaii on surface roads.  The salt water will peel the paint!

 Actually, one of our tour bus drivers answered this very question when asked. He said that they wouldn t have been able to get the federal money for the interstates if they hadn t called them " Interstates" .

Just got a call from the DS.   He is having a great time and doesn t want to come home.  They had thier awards banquet last night and thier Synphony got the silver medal.  The strings won the gold.  This is one happy, excited and very proud dad.[][]

 Careful! Been there and done that. Hawaii is a dangerous place for a young man to be. I went there back in  81, and almost decided to stay. There was this lovely little local girl, black sand beaches, and ..... (Hey, this was pre-SWMBO, I ve settled done since then.)
 
 Congrats on your son s achievment. He ll cherish the memories forever.

That is so wonderful!  Congratulations to him!  
 My nephew went on a tour of Europe with a group of selected band members when he was that age.  After listening to his report of the things he saw there it made me never want to visit Europe.  I would much rather go to Hawaii!
