We re planning a trip to " Ricketts Glen"  in Pennsylvania in June.  I have a choice of 61 sites for the dates we re going.  If you ve been to Ricketts Glen, PLEASE write and let me know which site/area is best for a PopUp family with four kids.

 Thank you so much!

my4cutiesaare you staying at the park there or the small campground at the bottom of the hill??? There are not meny sites in the park but lots of wild life this pass summer we were there just to go to lake jean and hike, saw deer, bear, and racoons, none bothered us but I am sure they must have rules about food  being kept in cars and so forth. all the sites are close to each other but the ones on the lake are the nicest.  If you are staying at the campground at the bottom of the hill forget it, there was an old post on the old forum place was BAD. STick with the park and you will have fun. also depending on how you are going there is a HUGH hill to get to the  park, make sure your breaks on your tow vehicle and trailer are working.

my4cutiesWe will be camping at Ricketts Glen on May 10th for a Geocacging Rally.  There are 15 sites reserved so far for Cachers.

I has reserved Site #20, sight unseen, about 6 weeks ago.  We were in the area 2 weeks ago so we stopped to scout it out.  We discovered that #20 looks real nice with easy access to back in.  It s on the outer loop and is lakeside with lots of woods and a nice table area.  Sites are pretty well seperated too.  The Bathroom is a short walk away and up to date.   Of course as I am sure you are aware there are no W/E sites but that s OK for us.

I understand Site #17 is also pretty big but is real close to the Buckhouse and not near the water.   Many sites are only sutiable for tenting.  When I called to reserve I gave them my camper size (opened up) and they were very helpful in selecting a site.

If you have never been to Ricketts Glen before your gonna love it.  Don t - I repeat, don t miss taking the Waterfalls Trail.  It s long and somewhat difficult but there are soooo many Falls to see.

Have loads of fun and if I can be of any help please drop me a line.

my4cutiesRicketts Glen is one of our favorites -- highly recommended.

Huge doesn t even begin to describe the " hill"  leading up to the Glen. It s probably 3-4 miles up, and at least a 12% grade (meaning real[/i] steep). Make sure you have something with a lot of horse power to drive up it, and REAL good brakes to go back down! [:D]

The falls trail is awesome, and is one of the reasons we love Ricketts so much (we always look for good hiking when we go camping). Make sure you take along lots of stuff to drink -- you re gonna need it. [;)]

We always head for 10 or 12. Both are on the outside of a loop and close to the potty (with a wife and 3 daughters close is good, but I don t want to be right next to it). 10 is probably bigger then 12, but 12 is a bit more shaded. There s no hookups though, so you ll have to dry camp it.
